Okay... well, if it is is nitromethane I wouldn't recommend it because it may seriously reduce engine longevity... :ugh2:

Anyway, do you have the drf's or at least know what the actual conditions and correction factor value were for those runs?

Absolute values are all relative, but it would be informative to see what went into the calculations besides top secret blends of mystery fuel :p

The items I didn't list in detail are purely mechanical modifications that I won't elaborate on. The car will be dyno'ed on Z1's dyno next weekend to further confirm the power it makes on E85.

Here's the thread for more details.

Okay. Well, I guess took the "sauce" label too literally.

It's clear you gents made some impressive gains from modification and tuning -- however, I'm curious as to the values SAE corrected, the run conditions, and the actual correction factor values that were applied -- frankly, because those values are so staggeringly high, it would be informative to see what conditions/corrections were also involved.

Understandably, I posted the graphs you requested in my thread.

Thanks -- wow. Well, I'm pretty impressed, and appreciate you posting the additional info :tiphat:.

Will some of the "sauce" related modifications eventually be offered to consumers? Did you use ECutek or Uprev for tuning?

We use Uprev on G/Zs mostly, however we do use Ecutek on GT-Rs, and FR-S/BRZs so that's an option. I will offer any part of this package for sale, however i'm not willing to provide the competition with free R&D by posting details

Fair enough -- looking forward to seeing more results in due course!

Again, nicely done

You finally came on the forum to tell the good news! Keep up your awesome job with Zatlanta!

If I put TSM "secret sauce" on my sandwich, will that make 357whp too?

Ally, as the end user you're more than free to tell us what secret stuff they did to the motor.

yea this secret sauce BS needs to be known or TSM needs to start promoting it for sales. :stirthepot: maybe from me lol

hopefully it's not nitrous. because that will just be a let down to all this anticipation lol

Chuck33079 04-29-2014 10:33 AM

It's not nitrous. I'm fairly confident thay just gave the entire intake tract a quick port and polish. That, with the E85 and VVEL tuning should do it. Mike hit 342 whp and he was running pump gas. So another 15whp from an E85 switch is reasonable.

agreed. kinda figured port and polish would be involved since thats been a topic of discussion with a lot of people lately. probably since we kind of ran out of room for power on N/A with current available parts.

not like anyone is making anything new anymore either. its either go FI or move on if you want more power lol

SS_Firehawk 04-29-2014 11:07 AM

At this point, I wonder what can be extracted with some more aggressive exhaust cams. And would it be worth the cost and effort. At that point there isn't much more to do than increase compression and displacement. Spinning the motor even more is expensive and at what point will VVEL crap the bed? That oil pump is on the ragged edge at 8k already.

I performed Mike the Powdercoater's modifications as well, when I worked at Z1.

So the secret mods you did as an employee at TSM are the same ones that Z1 had been doing? Are you an former employee taking trade secrets to a competitor? :rofl2: I won't tell anyone if you make with the info, you IP thief you. :p

so then theres now a conspiracy theroy based on prior allegations of Z1's pumped dyno readings......and now this? :stirthepot:

That's how the world turns! LOL:icon18::icon18::icon18:

At least there is someone other than Z1 we can hand out money too now! After the way they treated me with a big order, I actively seek out ways to give my money to someone other than them! :ugh2::ugh2:

Rob,

So with the upgraded injectors and fuel pump, were you able to advance the timing quite a bit? and still be safe?

I'd say that the upgraded injectors and pump allowed them to run E85, and the higher octane allowed more timing. I can't imagine there being any difference on pump gas.

I developed a modification while at Z1, to make the numbers their shop car, and Mike's car made. They now sell a version of that modification to the public, however I don't believe they've been making as much power with the current version :rofl2:

Now at TSM, having had the opportunity to be involved with several different platforms and work with people who have been in this industry as long as I've been alive, I've picked up a few new tricks which worked well on the VQ37.

So they're selling your IP. :rofl2: Did they make you sign something that says stuff you come up with while employed there is theirs? If not, you could corner the market by hitting them with a cease and desist. :rofl2:

Yutnaka 04-29-2014 11:41 AM

So, what did you do to the intakes? Did you make it go to 2 filters instead of 1, and enlarged the radiator support?

I didn't sign anything while working there, but I have no interest in doing such.

They're all great guys, I still talk to at least one of them daily. And realistically, as much as I enjoy the G/Z work, there's only so much we can support, we currently have 24 GT-Rs in the parking lot, with at least as many other cars.

I was in no way serious, hence the emoticons. :p Now make with the damn info so those of us outside your area can DIY it.:rofl2:

Rob,

Do you offer an alternative to the z1 or m370 manifold? Also, do you offer etunes similar to whats available for the GTR?

Jordo! 04-30-2014 01:21 AM

If TSM has a nice pnp'd IM that shows solid gains with a tune at a reasonable price point, I'd certainly be interested.

As to intakes, I'd be curious to hear if they have a larger diameter and if some nice CNC'd velocity stacks might be involved...

Mike 04-30-2014 06:46 PM

yes, that was Allison's. Great job by TopSpeed.

hadn't been on in a while, didn't know there was anohter page on it.

Rob did the work on mine and glad he has found a way to pull more out of it. TopSpeed is an awesome shop and has been the winners of One Lap of America with a GTR and have an awesome R8 entered this year that should win again!

probably 5-10 rwhp.

for example: with all my mods i baselined at 309. post-tune i was at 324.

exhaust, intakes, and tune is all i have.
