^ Agreed, I've been told the same thing in regards to my 4.08 FD since 5th gear is now under 1:1. The engine still makes the same power, but it will read lower than it actually is. Makes me want to slap a factory FD in the car just to see what it makes now...I'm making 345whp now on the 4.08's.

chuckie311 09-16-2015 06:02 PM

Wow those are some great numbers on the 4.08 gears

That doesnt exactly make sense.

The 5th transmission gear is still 1:1, no matter what you do with the final drive.

The reason you lose power with the 4.08 on the dyno is because the final drive ratio is now further away from 1:1 (independent of the transmission). The further you go from 1:1, the greater the losses through the gearing in the final drive itself.

So 5th gear is still 1:1, its just that you have increased losses in the differential.

Also, I believe that the quicker rate of acceleration on the dyno will cause power reading to go down. But that one I am still on the fence about.

brucelidat 09-16-2015 06:21 PM

I'm not switching back unless I go TT, just good to know since my numbers seemed a bit low for my mods.

PharmDZ 01-16-2016 11:31 AM

My latest retune (after switching from Motordyne M370, Injen CAI to Z1 upper/lower intake manifold and AAM intakes)

Top line is the before, middle is the final product, bottom is the new mods minus the tune.

No no... much more disappointing than that. lol it was only 6whp peak, about 10whp at/near redline. All the intakes changed was a bit of a loss in midrange as per my tuner. With the exhaust mods + M370 + injen CAI it was 331/269.

I just got the aam intakes too, haven't installed yet. Did you remove the maf tuning piece from the intakes?

PharmDZ 01-16-2016 02:36 PM

Yep I did remove them

Mysilverz 01-16-2016 05:11 PM

I hit 317 with stillen gen 3 intake, fast intentions cat back, and fast intentions non resonated test pipes. I'll report back once I have the z1 ported upper and lower intake plenum installed and the car tuned with ecutek.

Your powerband looks crazy. Why the jump and loss in the mid range? Made great numbers, from the looks of it the 1st and 2nd didn't really differ besides in the top end, that hp isn't really as usable.

that the effect of losing power due to knocking....

This with a tune?
Do you have the stock Y pipe exhaust or a CBE?
And is this in SAE, STD, or uncorrected?

I have the same setup, but RTP's, and the AAM midpipes. I'm sitting at 315/258 untuned. But I started at 314whp with just short tails... I'm just trying to find answers lol.

VDesi07 02-16-2016 12:32 PM

I can tell you that the 295 baseline is with my mods and no tune. The 326 number is after osiris tune.

I have stock y pipe and no cbe, just short tails, art pipes and z1 intakes

As for the STD, SAE i will have to check on that for you when i get home, i will get back to you.

VDesi07 02-16-2016 03:39 PM

STD Smoothing 5

Here is my chart with "SAE" at 317hp very similar to you!

http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/...216_183740.jpg

And uncorrected:

SS_Firehawk 02-18-2016 09:06 AM

Posted this on another thread. Probably belongs in here.

I went back and got my car tuned after seeing VDesi07's pickup... I blame this all on you!

Both dyno graphs are the same, just different corrections. Disregard the other lower hp baseline graphs, those are two different runs.

First image is in STD: 327WHP and 270lbft TQ
Second image is in SAE: Essentially 320whp and 264lbft of TQ

Mods:
Z1 Intakes
AAM Resonated Test Pipes
AAM Midpipes
AAM Short Tails
Tuned.

For the record, the car is too loud and don't like the sound. I need to fix that.

theres no such thing as "too loud" lol

V1H 02-18-2016 10:04 AM

Would also be interested how your exhaust sounds and what u consider too loud. Have u got a video clip?

My Motordyne shockwave))) + Berk HFCs is loud, but nicely so IMHO ;)
Sounds like this:
Cold start
Dyno run

Cheers :hello:

you have cats and mufflers based on what i see that he has listed.

his is no cats and no mufflers just some resonators in the test pipes and midpipe.

his will certainly be louder lol

and my car has no mcats, no res, and no mufflers.......it gets up there :stirthepot:

Just ask Elmo370Z how retarded the noise is. I'm sure his ears are still ringing.

Im loving my exhaust sound. Im sure its very similar to yours. Maybe just being 21 at college makes it a lot of fun. Especially with the 2 step in parking garages

Is this still being updated??

Btalont 06-23-2016 01:28 PM

328hp

1 Attachment(s)
2011 NISMO with Z1 Motorsports 400HP kit, ported upper and lower, CAI kit, headers which I ceramic coated, cat delete pipes with a stock NISMO exhaust. UpRev tune from JTran in Houston. Sure I could get in into the 330’s with a different exhaust but it is relatively quiet and the NISMO exhaust makes a nice sound now.

Got my car ecutek tuned at Specialty Z by Seb

Please see image below for dyno graph

Car did well in my opinion despite the 90 degree weather out here in california last tuesday.

317 hp/ 255 tq

Mods:
Stillen Gen 3 Intakes
Fast intentions resonated high flow cats
Fast intentions 12" resonated cat back exhuast
Tune

Car sounds amazing, don't read too many Z's having the pair of resonated cats/CBE so it was nice to hear the combo sound so good to me.

I mentioned to them that I thought once that batch of goodies was installed, it would probably be scary close if it didn't beat it, so I'm guessing they agreed and went ahead just in case. I think a big part of it was the cam install because to the best of my knowledge, they've only done those on my car and 1 other, a G37 I believe.

I'm to the point where the majority of the HP gaining mods I want to do are beyond my capability. Cams are one of those mods, but finding a shop in my area that I trust to do that kind of work has been hard. I've been down to their area for the 2017 Z Nationals, but never to their shop. I may consider going down a week or so before the Z Nationals this year so they can work on my Z, but that will require a lot of planning. How long did it take them, and if you don't mind me asking, what did they charge you?

You are in Maryland. MA-motorsports can take care of you. They did all the testing for JWT on these cams. See other thread. You will need headers also.
Test pipes won't cut it.
