I bought my Z new, and since day one it's occasionally felt like the transmission almost wants to grind going from 1-2 (and 1-2 only). These are casual, commuting-to-work shifts. It's always when it's cold out (<40 F), and always when the transmission/engine is cold. It almost feels like I don't have the clutch in enough, even though my foot's on the floor. It doesn't make any noise but I can feel it in the stick. Once warmed up, shifts are smooth. It's not gotten any more frequent or worse in the 1 year and 12K miles that I've put on the car, and I'm still on the factory fluids (except oil & gas, obviously). I chalk it up to being "normal" along with all the other clunky behaviors of this transmission. I don't dislike the Z's manual, it's just particular about how it's driven. She's a sensitive girl. She doesn't like the cold. Part of the fun of owning a manual. ![]() Last edited by Augustus; 02-15-2013 at 09:56 AM. |
