I need to remove the battery from my Z and notice it is some what of a process. Does anyone know, are the plastic pieces that go over the windshield adhered to the window in any way?

I can't seem to get the wiper arms off. The bolt was stubborn but got it off... Do you just pull on the arm?

I think you have to be a fully certified car builder...Not a ideal location.

You wouldn't expect it to, but going in not expecting it and while the diagram helps... it is still more than should be required.

While this is a bit off topic it is about battery removal woes...

Going back a few years a friend of mine had a C4 vette as did I at the time. He asks me one Sunday to drop by and assist him with getting the battery out. The C4 battery was located on the driver side behind the wheel in that huge engine bay those cars had. Located right over the battery was the master cylinder and a few other goodies preventing easily lifting it out.

I arrive to find the brakes have been bled and he is starting to get the master cylinder off the firewall. I stopped him there, loosened the bolts in the wheel well (30 sec job)that held the small body panel with the gills in it that covered the battery allowing the battery to be slid out sideways.

His wife thought we were both nuts as we laughed our a$$es off for a good ten minutes I went and picked up the new battery while he put his car back together.

Sorry couldn't find pics to help you see how simple it actually was versus the work he though he had to do

Does the wiper arm really have to come off to remove the battery? If so, did you manage to get it off?

It does because you have to remove most of the plastic panels that are at the bottom of the windshield. To do this, the wiper arms must come off. Not the greatest engineering in my opinion.

Default Battery Removal

The window wiper arms do not have to be removed to change the battery.

The plastic panels do have to be removed on only the passenger side. I have changed out my 370Z car battery without removing the window wipers or the plastic panels on the driver's side. It was an easy removal since the plastic panels are fasten with speed clips.

Most likely, the service manual that you can download from this web site illustrates the location of the speed clips and plastic panels.

Well shoot. I followed the directions found in the post above. Is there an easier approach to this? If so, do you have directions for it?

Default 370Z Battery Removal

no need to remove the center/driver side cowl plastic piece...just remove the plastice speed clips that fasten this section of thte cowl to the vehicle. You must remove the passenger side cowl piece though.

up above is correct. I did this over the weekend. took about 5 minutes. you do not need to remove anything but the pieces on the passenger side and definitely not the wiper arms...

I also replaced the battery recently. Only removed the battery cover - 3, the "hoodledge cover RH - 5," and the "cowl top cover RH - 1," as they're referred to in the diagram. It wasn't necessary to remove the last item completely, as I recall. I did need to tilt the battery a bit forward to lift it out after removing the hold-down bracket.
