Default Traction?

Hey guys,

I am starting to get frustrated, even on perfectly dry days my rear end is all over the place until I get into 3rd gear when I get on it. Even if I ease on the throttle until about 3-3.5k and then get on it my rear end with break loose and then I shift and can have a similar issue not near as bad from 2nd to 3rd.

My car came stock is an open rear, I am looking into getting an aftermarket LSD my question is there anything else I can do for the car to help it keep traction when I want to get on it?

Thanks
Keith

You should check out your tires. The Z doesn't have enough power to break loose the way you are describing.

If you're breaking loose in second and third it must be because you're slamming gears hard. If you want to go fast, be smooth. Smashing through gears like you wanna break it will make you go slower...

If you're at 3k rpm in 1st and stomp the throttle, it'll spin with any tires. That's just not how you drive. As was said above, you need to be smooth and squeeze on throttle. Take a big HP car like a Z06...would you wonder why stomping on the throttle just spun the tires on that car?

If you want to stomp the throttle and not light up the tires, go find yourself a Prius.

Short answer to your question is: Improve your driving.

I am getting rear camber arms with toe bolts and rear traction arms, then alignment. Hopefully that helps improves traction.
Definitely can't just floor it in first and second unless you want to spin out or go sideways.

Thanks for the answers guys, I should re-phrase I don't stomp on it but I do start to get into it. I am not sure if they are stock but I have Yokohama Advan's on the car right now. Dont know if they are good or bad, it was what was on the car when I bought it. Taking into count that driving the car is part of problem would the tires listed above help?

Thanks
Keith

Check your camber especially and also alignment specs. Mine was way off and noticed my traction was off as well. After getting things dialed in my traction is far improved.

having only one tire spinning is the other problem, get the LSD, it will be a big help.

What's the temp like when you're doing this?

Summer tires aren't too grippy when it's down in the 40's/50's at all.

Thumbs up

I NLTS often as well. With the POS viscous locker, the rear wanted to kick out. Now w/my clutch locker LSD, the rear end doesn't want to come around as much.

It can also be due to the pavement. I was at a friends house in San Antonio and there is a patch of really smooth concrete that I never got good traction. Accelerating the same way anywhere else was not a problem, but that particular spot I had to baby it or it would fishtail until I got off the smooth patch. Also note it was around 100 and hadn't rained in a while.
