Loud Whining Noise When giving Gas

Curious if anyone else is experiencing this and if its normal. I never heard this noise in my 350Z, and this is high pitched and goes rite thru the stereo

Default Loud Whining Noise When giving Gas

Curious if anyone else is experiencing this and if its normal. I never heard this noise in my 350Z, and this is high pitched and goes rite thru the stereo and its only when im giving it gas. Sounds like its coming from behind the passenger seat.

Anyone? Its really annoying the **** out of me.

It could be the diff, though it shouldn't be loud.

Take it in and see what the dealership says if you're worried about it.

Its at highway speeds. Gonna have to kidnap a service tech. Wouldn't the differential make noise even when i let off the gas though?

Sounds like Fuel pump, or the Differential.

It really depends. You can have on or off throttle whines (or both) with the diff and they can happen only at specific speed ranges or all across the board. I'd take it in and have them look at it.

Is it rpm or speed dependent? Try to drive the car for a while and find a quiet place to drive around in and listen for the noise. I was shocked at how loud these differentials can be with stock fluid that had been in the diff for 12,000 miles.

Are there any drivability issues? Can you hear it when parked either idling or revving?

Its a brand new Z with a total of 900 miles on her now. Its only when im driving and going above lets say 40. Just a whining noise like a loud fuel pump or the differential. Being the car is new I figured the gears need to wear down a bit before the noise went away.

First "NEW" Car purchased so I dunno. I usually by pre-owned.

Through the stereo, meaning the sound comes from the speakers?

My fuel pump is a little noisy when cold but goes away once it warms up. On the highway it is drowned out by tire roar, so yours must be pretty noisy if you can hear it on the highway.

If it sounds like it is coming from the passenger side of the car it could be ECU, but that noise is usually more constant.

Update on this. The noise seems to have quieted down and is really only noticeable in 6th gear now. Brought it to the dealer and was told its normal wearing in noise for a 370Z 6 speed.
