VK50VE in 370z??

IS it possible to drop a VK50VE engine in 370z?? I am Just curious because i saw on Wiki a 2007 Super GT Nissan 350Z, 490 hp (370 kW) and

Default VK50VE in 370z??

IS it possible to drop a VK50VE engine in 370z?? I am Just curious because i saw on Wiki a 2007 Super GT Nissan 350Z, 490 hp (370 kW) and 380 ft·lbf with a VK45DE cuz i would just love a V8 in my Zzzz

i was thinking maybe a replacement drop in and maybe some custom welded fittings or something, basically will it fit?? and will the tranny bolt right up or do i have to get like a some sort of flange?? i am a welder and a tech but not a car tech, but capable of doing the job my self+friends that are car tech's+ forum help. So just throwing an idea out there cuz i dont mind rollin in a 5.0

Usually, if you're asking these questions, you are probably not up to the job. I'm not aware of anyone that has made the swap into a 370.

Unless by some miracle there's something in the Nissan parts bin to make everything bolt up (i.e., another vehicle uses that motor and the same trans as the Z) you are looking at custom fabrication for motor mounts, a custom bell housing for the trans, and a whole lot of screwing around with various vaccum lines and other odds and ends. Then there's the cluster and ECU, which will probably have to be aftermarket. And lots of tuning.

It would probably almost be easier to rip everything down to the shell, and install the motor you want with the trans you want, the read end you want, assuming it will all more or less fit (might need to cut into the fire wall, etc.) at all, and then build the car back up around it.

Basically, if it won't bolt right up, it's a big custom job that will cost insane amounts of money and work. Even if you do it all yourself, it's going to take a loooong time to get it together. This is one of those projects where the car will probably be on a lift or in pieces for months (if not years).

You'd be better off either boosting the Z to get the power, or trading it in for a different car altogether.

Speaking of crazy (but more do-able) projects, I want someone to install a AWD G37 trans in a Z and boost that

Custom motor mounts and bell housing for the tranny i can do that my self no problem, vaccum lines and all tho hoses also not a prob.

The ECU i was gonna keep since both of the motors use VVEL system of- course those 2 extra cylinders i was going to use a software in order to re-flash the ECU like Technosquare or Osiris not sure yet if it does work and if its not possible then reuse the FX50 ECU just re-flash it as well. Also connect everything that is possible to it all other components that r left make them manual or get rid of em.

Witch brings me to my current problem will the Z tranny bolt up and by the looks of the engine bay there isn't any room. You're right i have cut in to the fire wall just because of that, but if you move the radiator up front where there is space u might not even have to cut in to the firewall and just clear it.

and if the Z tranny wont bolt up then ill make this B***h AWD W/ a FX50 tranny= MHAhahahaha.

Damn more work for me but all this is in the future just trying to make something possible guys.

But man am gonna miss manual tranny. Am trying 2 do everything 2 keep it.

G37 awd also auto Bummer i rather V8 it and AWD w/ auto.

To test and tune this motor, you are better off getting a motec ecu because it's a customizable as it gets. The amount of work and know how to actually build this thing is not worth it, and you are better off getting a GT-R.

I'm going to say its unlikely that you can get it to work without some serious money. The overhead cam V8's are pretty wide and will not just "drop in" without some major modification to the car. There is going to be a lot of suspension and frame modification required to make the engine fit, and a lot of trial and error to get the car to run right. If you're not willing to spend $50k+ on the project you're going to end up with a half-assed effort that hasn't been tested enough to ensure that EVERYTHING functions properly.

A better bet would be an LS engine. They fit in the 350s and would most likely fit in a 370 with less work than it required to cram in an OHC engine. Plus, it's a better engine than a VK50 anyways. More power, more potential, and more cost-effective. Not to mention you have a wide selection of transmission options.

knock the fenders back, use a vk56 titan engine, should bolt up to the new hr/vhr/vk bell-housing pattern, figure out the clutch, knock back the firewall, get a raised hood, fab in some new mounts, figure out if the oil pan will fit then, just throw a standalone at it.

Edit: Menard racing 700hp N/a drysump vk56 trophytruck engine.

And ive also seen an LS engine in an RX7, it had no heat or a/c and it was loud as hell, but damn it ran nice. Am just trying to keep it a JDM here
+ something unique.

i dont mind making the car AWD but i would also like to keep Manual tranny,

I understand the whole JDM aspect, but in all honesty for the best results the LS is going to be your best bet. It's the most compact of all the V8 options you have out there, most reliable, most powerful, most moddable, most available... you get the point!
