Guys i have a quick question thats kinda off topic.

So other day i parked my car on a steep decline parking lot. Where if i were to let go of the brake the car would move forward.

So now it was time for me to leave but i asked myself "... uhhhhh".

First thing i did was press the brake and release the ebrake. Then i was bit confused. I press my clutch and quickly just kinda pressed the gas pedal before that car starting moving forward.

my point is that the car still moved forward a little. Is there a trick to this? where ur car wont move forward?

Unless you plan on changing the laws of Physics, the answer is no. It's impossible for your car to roll up the hill.

I'm not entirely sure what your asking.

On any surface that has even the slightest incline, I put the car in the appropriate gear (first/reverse). Our parking brakes are the weakest I've ever had in a car and I won't rely on it unless the surface is completely flat (like my garage).

I have always left all my cars in first. As for the stress on the trans the routine that i use is park, leave the car in first, e brake, and turn the car off. My thought is that the parking brake should do the trick but if it somehow fails the gear will catch it. This is just the way I've done things and thought I'd share!

I leave the car in gear when I'm parked.

Strange thread. Even stranger to me is that some folk keep their manual transmissions in neutral when they park. I just leave it in first -- the gear I was in when I stopped moving forward. I'd never trust the parking break even on a level surface much less a hill.

if you walk around here you will see 95% of the parked cars in gear.

Oh dear god, "Um what is MT DURR I STALLED CAUSE I FORGOT IT WAS IN GEAR BUT I DON4T MIND CUZ I LIEK GOING FROM SOME SLUSHBOX TO A HEAVY CLUTCHED MT SPORTCAR ARE I COOL NOW?"

Here in belgium EVERYBODY takes their driving license test in a MT. pretty much everybody here drives MT anyway and those who drive AT know how to drive MT.

Hell if you take your driving license test with a AT you are not allowed to drive MT car without retaking the test
