Now weather it was worse with reagan and all Im not sure but believe me, we are still ****** right now as a country. And thse with jobs are holding back too. In here you will see alot of younger people buying things as they may not have the overall bills that some older people do, ie families to support, kids in college etc. Sure there are always exceptions but for the most part its the younger generation buying things right now. The older generation is trying to secure their retirement and not spending.
What you say makes sense to me but the fact is we are no longer in a recession. That ended a while back.

The U.S. economy is still in recession. Many of us members are fortunate enough to have jobs that meets our ends. There are people out there that are laid off from their jobs and are having their lives turn upside down. Be happy that you are able to still enjoy your sports car(s) and going out to the movies.

Please don't be ignorant about the current economic situation. You only see what you want to see because the people suffering and strugling you glance past them.

The US is no longer in recession. Jobs, unfortunatly remain very scarce but jobs growth always lags the economic realities.

I guess we started talking about how much money it costs to juice hp from our 370z's and that it doesn't seem worth it for the amount of hp freed to people with and without money and then to the current economic status. Still about money.

The price of bolt ons for gains in this car are more then others yes, but im looking at the total package price. To me that is HP, Looks, Sound, etc. The bolt ons you mentioned raise appeal on all those levels. The value is unmatched if you ask me. I have had to put 10-15k in evey car I have ever owned to get it to a point of balanced looks and performance. Plus I love the fact that this car does not have 100 different staged packages, from 100 different companies claming only 20 were built 600 HP+ blah blah blah like the Mustangs, Camaros, and Vettes. I want to turn heads from everyone not just gear heads. Anyway like I said all things taken in to consideration, IMO the price is not bad at all.

I like my Z. I think I like the new 5.0 Mustang GT more, but taking into consideration the loss I would take to get out of the Z and into the Mustang (and then mod the Mustang up like I have been with the Z) it's just not worth it (damn being a finance guy!!!).

If I wasn't happy with the Z I'd take the loss for sure, but this is a very good car. It holds its own against the likes of Corvette, Porsche, Mustang, etc, all of which have VERY formidable offerings.

@Endgame -- I agree with you about the Corvette. It doesn't feel quite as direct as the Z does. Obviously there are things you can do to change that, but stock for stock the Z feels much more nimble and involved. I would drop my Z in a heartbeat for a Z06, though!!!

Talking about driver-to-car connection...

I've only been driving my Z for a few months. One thing I noticed is that the car seems to amplify the way I feel when I drive the sweet thing. I mean she rides so smooth and she transitions from gear to gear (I've the 6MT) so effortlessly when I'm in a good and relaxed mood. The opposite can be said when I'm tired and feeling $hitty. She feels very slow to shift and very rough she seems when I'm not in tip-top shape.

She's weird in a good way - as if she now acts like my mood gauge. She's able somehow to tell me when to pipe-up or pipe down.... Really weird, this "connection" thing. LOL!

Ain't that the truth? The Z 6MT is really finicky and demands a relaxed driver to really operate properly, so that's definitely why you are feeling like it's your mood gauge. I definitely get it. If you are relaxed the car is fantastic!

Also, it looks better, sounds better, handles better, and makes more power when it's freshly washed.

I agree with the RX8 vs 370 reference (previously owning 2 Rx8s) but both cars have limited potential bolt-on mods gain....

Personally I could care less about the $ per hp gained, i have previously owned 5 z's and loved all of them except the 350 (I still liked it but it just wasn't my favorite)... I bought the car for the same reason I bought all the others, I have always had great experiences and loved the allure of the z's... I guess I am just an enthusiast at heart.

No matter where I go everyone seems to absolutely love this car, I don't see anyone really going nuts or walking up to a gt mustang or a c6 corvette or anything of the nature the way they approach the 370z's whenever there is one around.

Just get the Fast Intentions exhaust. its rated 27HP gain and $1500, and you get the agressive sound. instead of IHE set up do that exhaust with some wheels. get the Volk CE28n or Enkei PF01 or RPF1. The CE28n is pricey but the Enkei's are cheap. droping weight on your wheels will help alot.

Good luck.

FI cbe is not gonna give you 27hp to the wheels...and actually for a naturally aspirated v6 I don't think you could find another car that gets as good as gains as this car. However, anything that has forced induction will give you far better gains with boltons(pulley for s/c)/tune.

Maybe headers and exhaust gives you 27 to the wheels? Altho Berk cbe + hfc is rumored to be 36 hp to the wheels, essentially 30rwhp for the combo would be a generous dyno and an initial low baseline...
