Ok, maybe not that simple, what I am looking for is some solid thoughts on the difference in the 370z. I have driven manual in a crappy car for the past few years, it sucks, and I was looking at getting an automatic in my next car. The 370z seems like a car I would want a manual in but the automatic is very well built.
I have driven the manual, dealership had no automatics, but I want to hear some owners thoughts. I will drive the automatic before I pick one, but want to get a good idea of things beforehand.
First post on this thread.......

Damn, no wonder my riced out automatic cavalier was so fast back when I was 16... You can have your automatic all day for the 10th of a second it might make your car faster. I just traded in my BMW 335 coupe with the paddles. Hated it, just not the same experience. All of my sports cars have been manuals. Not to mention reliability of BMWs SUCK!

Not all AT are as good as this one. My DD is a Audi TT with AT and it not good when shifting it and my wife's Veloster Turbo is the same way. I think it's the rev matching on the 7 AT that makes it work so much better. You can't do hard downshifts in the other cars like you can the Z so you can't drop into the top end of a gear.

Never drove an auto Z but I could downshift my BMW from 6th to 4th to go into a corner if thats what you mean? I mean don't get me wrong it worked well, just not my cup of tea.

Would it downshift at close to redline? My other cars will not do it like the Z does.

Im pretty sure it would. As long as you weren't going to push it passed the rev limit on the downshift.
