Deatschwerks Fuel Rails

Anyone have the Deatschwerks fuel rails? They seem to be the same design as the CJM and Z1 pieces, but selling for less. Do you need the crossover hose? TIA

Just buy the CJ Motorsports ones and be done with it. Everybody else copied him. Why support the copy cats.

To be fair, the DW rails are more so copies of the Radium VQ rails, but with a billet mount rather than a sheet metal mount. These styles of rails are cheaper because they are one-size-fits-all-VQs. They are a lot more reminiscent of rails you would see 20 years ago machined from universal fuel rail extrusion bar and then made to fit with flimsy brackets.

CJM produces specific rails for the left and right side for each version of the VQ, as CJM is a platform focused manufacturer. The correct rail mounting points are utilized and the ends of the rails lengths are positioned strategically for making ideal plumbing connections on each engine version. Universal brands like Radium and DW have no specific interest in the VQ, but rather are on a quest to just have finished product for every make and model. From this approach, its smarter for them to not get as hung up on several proprietary versions, and wrap it up as easily as possible with as few new SKU as possible.

Then of course anyone with eyes can see the Z1 rails are CJM reps just with changes to the cosmetic angles/chamfers/radiuses to try and make it their own, but they did change the injector bosses to Radiums design.

For the bare minimum installation, you will need a custom fuel feed line and a crossover hose, and fittings for the rails. Then there are more complicated ways to plumb them that would require additional hoses.

If you are not building an entire return fuel system, dont waste your money on fuel rails, there is zero benefit. Even in the scenario of return fuel systems, the only reason we even have to change the rails on the VQ is so that we can get superior plumbing connected to them. The stock rails themselves have no issues other than the permanently attached inlet pipe and blocked off ends.

Stock rails will perform well enough for any naturally aspirated VQ.

It's been sooo long since I checked my CJM order, but I actually bought the whole kit with the rails

Do I need the CJM 4-Way Fuel Tap to run two fuel pressure gauges? I have the mini CJM one included in the kit that I assume is for the engine bay and I was thinking about buying a gauge for the inside cluster.

The 4-way block mounts to the stock fuel rail inlet tube flange. If you remove the stock rails for billet ones, you lose the fuel rail inlet tube flange.

Id recommend you just not use the small gauge in the engine bay. An in-cabin gauge or sensor used for logging is a far superior option than a gauge in the engine bay that you can only see when stationary and outside the car. You just simply will not need a gauge in the engine bay after adding a proper one.
