I have an 09 Touring (non NISMO) and I had an 09 OEM NISMO CBE on my car for years before switching to the FI TDX. So they are obviously interchangeable on early models. I'm guessing you're correct in saying the current NISMO system is a bit longer due to the updated bumper.
