I'm installing a Royalty Performance Diff Brace on my otherwise stock 7AT with 91k miles no signs of broken diff bushings. Upon hand snugging the bottom bolts to the cover I have at least a 1/4" gap between the brace and subframe with the diff loaded and unloaded.
![]() Without asking age nor mileage, Royalty says the diff bushings are sagging/worn, and to tighten the subframe bolt first, then let the cover bolts pull the differential into place. ![]() Is it me or is anyone else hesitant about the amount of tension this will put on the differential housing, cover bolts (shortened by the brace thickness) and potentially driveshaft? I'd much rather add a bolted through plate under the brace to subframe connection side to address the gap. Thanks for any insight you can lend!
