Exclamation 7AT Transmission Odd Rev bouncing

So I got an Admin tune not too long ago and I'm well aware the car has quite a few miles on the engine and transmission. Has anyone ran into a behavior where you get close to redline and shift and it takes a few seconds to lock into the next gear or when driving in Automatic mode and usually in 2nd gear it will go to redline, bounce down to 6, then back up for a few times and then lock in the gear.

Do I just need my fluid and solenoid replaced in the transmission or would you guys think it could be a bit more severe?

Issue only came to my attention after tune as I never took it that hard stock.

If you haven't changed the fluid in 40k miles (or more), change it. May not fix your problem but it needs to be done.

I plan to, the only issue at the moment is finances because my Wife just recently had to switch jobs for, IMO, some pretty BS reasons. Anyways I have been trying to get quotes from other Nissan specialty dealerships and the only one I've been able to get so far in Wichita is gonna run me $250 for a drain and fill...

That’s a ridiculous amount; do it yourself
Easy to do, unsure where the diy thread is...but a 5mm Allen,19mm wrench & a pump up chemical sprayer (from Lowe’s,etc...) that can pump transmission fluid up into the overfill plug.
After performing this, I’d run a bit & repeat...a flush machine is ideal-if you can find a trans shop who still has one.

I used this fluid; purchased at Walmart for less than 20$ per gallon & meets all Nissan specs.
Would recommend getting 3 gallons & flushing trans.
But you could possibly have issues with something else going on

Yes, if you neglected to change your transmission fluid on time definitely change your transmission fluid first and diagnose from their. If you can’t change your own transmission fluid on your own have a reputable shop you trust change your transmission fluid for you or take your Z to a Nissan dealership service department and have them change your transmission fluid for you.Overall the 7AT transmission is a solid and reliable/dependable transmission unless it was damaged previously? Was your transmission firmness ever adjusted by your Admin tune? You can try going back to your stock tune temporarily to see if your transmission shift points or firmness changes. Once your transmission computer module calculates load the shift into the next gear will be almost instant except overdrive. Definitely let the transmission shift itself do not use manual mode until this issue has been diagnosed and repaired. Worst case scenario depending on what is found when diagnosed transmission rebuild/replacement or transmission computer module replacement. I hope you have warranty left to use.

Lol when I bought it there was no warranty that I would have taken. It was a shady dealership and I might have the dealer pull the Carfax to see when the last trans service was done.

simple solution: do not drive in auto mode.

78k miles on mine and it's never/rarely ever seen A on the dash. the ECU "learns" so if you drive in manual mode the ecu tries to mimic that somewhat in auto and it fails miserably.

mine runs perfectly, changed my fluid at about 45k miles probably will do it again soon, plus my tranny was tuned so that could help.

So I've basically confirmed the persistence of the issue by driving it and doing 1 or 2 hard pulls in manual mode and I have to baby shift it up to 6k into 2nd or 3rd gear, otherwise it behaves as if it's locked me out of the gear and will bounce the rev limiter until I back off. I have scheduled a service with a nearby dealership which the total comes out close to $200 after taxes so that's at least more confident than my first estimate. When I last went to the drag strip some other racers thought it was a possibility that the fluid was low or becoming viscous. I figured either way a service is in order. Still trying to sell **** on the FB marketplace to get enough to service but will update after service and opinions.

well if a fluid change doesnt work could be flex plate is cracked/broken.

you wont like the cost of that fix either lol i actually have been tempted to grab one from FI thats 1000hp rated since 80k miles almost of beating on mine i'm just assuming it's cracked somewhere.

think i have a couple hundred drag strips passes on it as well.

i probably will do my tranny fluid again soon too. think i did it at 50k.

So I think I actually feel stupid now after some further troubleshooting this weekend lmao! I reflashed my last tune file I received from Moncef and did a few hard pulls to see if after a flash it persisted. Like FP mentioned the ECU does like to learn a bit as you drive and I forgot that the last time I had reflashed the vehicle was close to half a year ago and I was on a different setup than what I have now.

Went ahead and pulled some logs and sent them to Moncef and he went ahead and sent me back a new tune file that I'm going to play with for a bit to check the feel of everything. Still planning on the transmission service since it's definitely a must with these cars.

manual says the tranny is lifetime or 100k miles for service.

thats granny driving for 100k.

i beat on mine and use it so i did my tranny fluid at 50k. figured based on driving style that half the recommended seems right.
