If your engines only clicking and not even turning over I doubt your fuel pump is causing the problem. 99% sure it's an electrical issue related to dead battery/alternator/wiring or starter motor. The sputtering and dying is most likely due to the ignition system not having the power it needs to function. It should be a relatively simple repair.

If your fuel pump was the issue the engine would turn over and just not fire. When you rev your engine your alternator is putting out a lot more current over coming what ever electrical issue there is.
