As Ghost mentioned, corrosion might make it difficult. But the battery compartment is pretty well protected from the elements. I've got 100K miles on the Z and my second battery is nearly 4 years old at this point and everything is reasonably clean, as seen in the pic.

Thanks for all the replies (even the smartass ones they were a good chuckle). I needed to find out how to remove the fusible link . Turned out there's two electrical plugs at the bottom of it and were extremely hard to press the tab and pull them off. Since I needed to replace the fuse link , I just snipped off the plastic tab that one of the plugs hooks on to from one side , once one of them came off the other was easier to pull out. In case anyone is wondering why , it was because the battery started to leak from positive post and corroded the terminal and bolt that holds the terminal to the fuse link so everything needed to be replaced except cables. I ended up having to replace the battery, the positive terminal and the fusible link. Sorry if the question sounded dumb , I guess I should've been more specific as to the problem but being as I'm extremely maticulous and careful with my cars and have never dealt with this problem before I wanted to get someone else's advice before going with my gut feeling and possibly making matters worse. Anyways , she's running again.
