Dented exhaust resonator

What’s up everyone! My question is, has anyone had any experience with dented resonators. My issue is that i was driving down the road (spirited) and hit a large bump.

Default Dented exhaust resonator

What’s up everyone! My question is, has anyone had any experience with dented resonators. My issue is that i was driving down the road (spirited) and hit a large bump. I’m lowered on BC coilovers. Ever since then I’ve gotten a vibration/noise mostly while deaccelerating around 2.5k and 4K rpm. My exhaust does not seem any louder while accelerating other for than a short moment at 4k rpm, which made me think i had a leak. I lifted the car up and triple checked for leaks in the exhaust and nothing. I checked the brackets which were all good and also looked to see if the exhaust could be touching something to make the noise but no luck there either. My resonator has a pretty large dent in it about the size of a golf ball. I’m just wondering can a resonator make this happen? I’ve looked online and they say sometimes if a baffle breaks inside the resonator it may make noise. Just was curious if any of the people on this forum have had or seen a issue like that.

Thanks I’m advance !

Chances are if you dented a resonator. You bent a bracket. Something is out of alignment.

Okay I’m putting some new tires on today so I’ll double check all the brackets. I’m just curious has anyone had any experience with a broken baffle in the resonator? I just don’t see how it could cause a vibration but people online swear it can.

The broken guts of a cat could cause all kinds of noises. From rattles, squeaks, whistles, and vibrations as the pieces pass through the exhaust system. When you have the Z up in the air. Tap on the exhaust with the ball of you hand. Listen for any rattles and squeaks. Any pieces will end up in the muffler unless you have mufflers like FI. Then the pieces will blow out.

Default Exhaust

Had the car up in the air and took off my resonators to look inside. No cat pieces or anything like that. After reinstalling the noise went away for about 2 days then after a hard acceleration started doing it again. I guess it must be metal touching metal somewhere
