Having fought with this clutch system quite a bit, that sounds extremely likely.
Check your clutch to make sure the pop didn't splash any clutch fluid on the plate, as it can ruin your clutch. And don't put another OEM CSC in there, for God's sake. Go with ZSpeed's CMAK.
