Default VQ 400 hp kit review from Z1 (useing motodyne)

Hey guys, thought i would give a little review of the motodyne 400 hp package as i recently installed it with baseline dynos and have all the true numbers here.

The kit i am refering to is the Z1 package available here that has been advertised with showen dyno charts to produce 400 hp at the crank (s0 roughly 340 at the wheel) https://www.z1motorsports.com/z1-pro...ge-p-7223.html

I should mention that i changhed to motodyne test pipes rather then Z1 as well as the intake manifold due to better output numbers however this may have effected the full potential of reaching the 400 hp mark. I spoke with Z1 before the purchase to see how much of an effect it woudl have and they agreed it should hardly change much for expectation on power.

The base line test we performed without a tune gave us 268 wheel horse power. After installing the entire package we got 305 at the wheels just from bolt on (not bad for strickly bolt on if you ask me) plus after the UpRev tune we made it to 317 at the wheels (about 23 horsepower short of the advertised amount when comparing wheel to wheel gains). ALL DYNO RUNS WERE DONE ON A DYNO JET

The entire install took about a day and a half plus another few days for the tune (tune was faulty so not really the mechanics fault)

The feel of the car was significant, you cant argue there is definitly gains. The biggest diffrence is second gear spins non stop. The next upgrade will for sure need to be tires and wider rims otherwise i wont be hooking up till third gear.

The sound can only be described as OMG!!!

I run electric cut outs on my car so i can go from factory to stright off the down pipes at the flick of a switch. When we ran the car before with just cut outs before the cats it was loud but nothing to crazy. The sound now is full race car spec sound. I have never heard a 370 sound like this before. When we were running the car on the dyno it was so intense that some people in the shop were having to leave because they said they could feel there chest vibrating and it was iritataing them to much. Once you close the cut outs and it goes back to factory exhaust its silent as it was before with no signs of modification (besides the slight change in smell linguring behind the car with deleted cats)

The mods did throw the CE codes but we were able to turn them off wth the uprev tune making it no issue at all.

All in all i would have to say the gains for the money are very impressive. The package is adveretised at 400 Crank horsepower gains however when you play with altitude, humidity and tempreture its hard to get the exact same numbers as advertised. The total gain we got from the package was definitly an impressive 49 wheel horsepower, so i cant argue the package definitly showed impressive numbers.

Feel free tro ask any questions, hope this helps anyone that may be intrested in the mod.

That's pretty good, Assuming you make 332bhp and you got a reading of 268whp ~.807 ratio. Using the same ratio with 317whp you get 393 for a bhp. Grats

They should offer the Z1 intake instead of the manifold imo. That would be right on the money 400hp. It seems a lot of people who install z1 manifold only see slight gains (including myself).
