Don't think I have ever seen this problem before. +1 on the battery disconnect.

Need to check your oil pressure sensor. I'm sure it was fiddled with when the front cover was removed.

Get an OBD scanner and see which PID(s) are thrown. (You can buy a scanner for as little as $20-30 or most auto parts stores will loan you one.) That should give you a good idea of where the problem is.

Are you sure it's not the time-for-an-oil-change light?

I didn't remove the front cover , but that sensor did get some accidental pressure out on while trying to tighten the bolt ... That could indeed be it....

I"m sure it's just the oil sending unit that got jacked up like you said.

I've seen oil sending units where there is oil going through it and it leaks into the connector. Or, the oil pressure light comes on while at a light and when you acceleration it goes away due to pressure being built up upon acceleration.

I highly doubts its your oil pump as well due to your mileage.
