So I got it to 260 oil temp, did I break anything

Just finished my most highest powered stint yet. Seems like you gotta do 120+ consistently to hit 260temp. Little worried because this was the first time I hit anything past

Any decent oil will take 300F or better (the Z will go into limp mode before you get that hot). A short period (2-5 minutes) at 260 shouldn't be a big deal but I'd still change the oil/filter just to be on the safe side. YMMV

Check your coolant level and condition. You may have boiled off some coolant. If the oil temp was that high, the coolant temp was probably above normal also.

No, you didn't hurt anything. Buy an oil cooler though

Yes you broke your previous high oil temp record. Go for 280 next time, your car will still be fine.

lol not quite ... try any gear at 4K RPMs or higher for more than a few minutes once the car is warm

An oil cooler will do wonders. But your car is fine. You will trigger limp mode with restricted RPMs before the car lets you do any major damage. I hit 280F on a track with no oil cooler after only three laps at full speed. I just made sure to change the oil when I got home. That was several years and over 30K miles ago.

It boggles my mind that VQ37HR runs such a high temperature for engine oil. Mine would easily run in the 220F while my LS7 wouldn't even touch 200F (likely hovering around 180-190F) for street use.

Congrats you boiled off any water you may have had in your crankcase.
