Ya aluminum oil pans are intimidating in that regard. That was why I made it a larger thread than the stock plug to begin with. Then I believe it was the 3rd production batch I decided to make it even bigger yet.

Nobody has reported tearing out their threads on the original pans yet, but I am sure the day will come that someone calls me up to ask about getting it welded back up and re-machined.

Not a criticism. I love it.
By the way those were my guys from ignite performance asking about the fuel starve install. . I finally got tired of putting it off and track season is looming large!!!

Oh awesome. So you just installed it then.

One thing you can do if you want, is use the side ports for draining oil also. They are a huge thread and would put less cycles on the smaller thread plug.

I am using a fuhmoto drain valve on my AL pan so I don't need to unscrew anything from the bung. It drains frustratingly slow, but I can also hook a hose up to it and drain it right into an empty bottle.

They do not make them in AN thread sizes:

-6 threads are 9/16-18.

They also appear to be about an inch deep:



So this wouldnt lend itself well to ground clearance on a bottom facing plug.

Well thanks.. but they are nearly identical! The differences is the drain plug thread (and hence the plug itself) and the flange being lightened up with a small step cut. Was your first one raw aluminum? The anodizing really makes them feel cleaner because raw aluminum is so soft that it scratches up if you look at it wrong.

Nope... I run the Gamma pan. phunk has just pointed out that there is not a compatible valve.

Both of my pans were anodized black. The plugs are much better to me (Smoother). The pain itself is just about spot on.

There is a Company in Aus, that I have purchased Fumoto valves from over the years that now do there own Valves.
They look really nice & seem to be an improvement over the Fumoto in some areas.
They also do a 9/16-18 threaded Valve (-6), 3/4-16 (-8), 7/8-14 (-10) also NPT sizes & others.

Two things

Thing one. Phunk, you have been great to work with and your customer support is amazing and very very much appreciated. No wonder you are the go to guy for mods for so many here in the forums

Thing two. I doubt I will have any problems with my drain plug but if I ever do I'll happily drop a little more cash on my man phunk for a new one. Pulling and replacing the plug is the least difficult job of the oil swap process IMHO. an ez drain system seems almost (and please no offense intended to anyone when I say this)... Silly??

To each his own of course. And keep up the good work. I love the innovation that happens around these parts. (Pardon the pun)

It seems that way, but it's soooo nice. You just hook a hose from the nipple on it and put the other end in an empty oil jug. You don't spill a drop of oil. At least until you unscrew the filter.
