Oil overfill

There you go. ResIpsa is purposely keeping the level where you have it now. Not sure of the merit in keeping it at the H, but at least you're not

FWIW, I changed my oil today and wouldn't you know it that I overfilled. A quick trip to Home Depot got me 25' of 1/4" polyurethane tubing for $3. I cut it to about 6' long and it slides down the dipstick port easily. I was able to siphon out some oil and get the dipstick reading below the H dot.

I actually just sucked on it with my mouth (this line not to be taken out of context) and then quickly put the end in the bottom of a bucket before I ate oil. No mess at all.

Why is everyone saying to wait until the engine is cold to check the oil? The owners manual says to get the engine to normal operating temperature, shut it off for 15 minutes and then check it. It's still pretty warm at that point.

You can use a big syringe, I've done it before.

Your right it does! But that's new(s) to me, I've always been told to do it when the engine is cold!
