Nissan Ester Oil, I would presume, as that's the recommended oil in the manual.

Though no one's ever verified this. The manual says a "high quality oil" from the factory. I really doubt it's Esther oil as the cost over 10's of thousands of cars would be astronomical..

I doubt Nissan has to pay the same amount that they're charging their own customers for the stuff; they probably get it for pennies on the dollar. But you're right about it being unverified, in any case.

This is well within the Lemon Law act. He can ask for a new car all together!! I would! (Not sure if he's doing that, long a$$ thread)
Worth it to call a lawyer!! I've had, on occasion, major issues with new Audis (work at a dealership) and those customers who demanded another vehicles did got one!! Sometimes with more options! I wouldn't want my new car from the assembly line taken apart and reassembled!! HELL NO!! My two cents. Also: The Audis all burn oil and have a "Min Oil" warning (level sensor) since it's expected! Audi states that increments as low as 1500 miles is normal. ![]() Luckily we don't see that often!

How is this well within the lemon law? It usually has to be the same exact problem recurring 3 times at least for it to be a lemon. His engine failed, Nissan gave him a brand spanking new engine. It doesn't get any better than that folks. This is not a situation where the car was involved in a major accident, and the body will never be the same again. This is a 100% back to normal fix.

With this type of repair anything can happen that could cause a problem down the road. I handle tickets with engine replacements and it is a major job. If you were to walk down and see you car midway through this type of repair you would probably rethink your position! Maybe the Audi buyer is generally smarter then the Nissan buyer?? (Flame suit) ![]() Jokes! PS: I also have little faith with Nissan techs from personal experience. ![]()

I have plenty of Audi buddies and they generally think Audi Techs suck too, but they have a LOT more experience with them than the average Nissan customer ever will with a Nissan tech......

It's very strange to me that Nissan didn't put an oil gauge in the 370Z.
