AMS Adjustable Short Throw Shifter available @ Z1 Motorsports

I just ordered the AMS short shifter kit and I was wondering if there was an easier way of installing it? Do I really need to take the whole shifter

Do I really need to take the whole shifter assembly out to do the install?
