Why do some lights look like the top shroud has an amber color and others don't? Do you have to replace the bulb?

No. The bulb that's in there is a double filament bulb. One of the wires coming out of the socket is cut and sealed from factory. All u have to do is extend that wire and connect it to the yellow cable that goes to ur side marker.

Okay so 250 degrees for 8-12 minutes is what I found. I'll be doing this tomorrow along with my aerojacket install, so wish me luck!

Ok, so I just finished up blacking out my headlights. I used the heat gun method. Let me just say, doing this mod is not for the faint of heart. From start to finish took me about 11 hours. Separating the lens cover from the housing was no joke! Make sure you take a break every hour or so. I know for me if I'm working for to long, I'll get tired and run out of patience. Patience is key! I'm happy its finally over . I think it came out really good. Would I ever do it again? HELL NO!

How much does this mod affect the brightness of the headlights?

I concur.

The "Glass ball" in the headlights do all the reflecting.
