nice it looks pretty boss on the white as well. i like it. Its so hard to take pictures of these there is almost no angle where you dont get massive glare everywhere.
As for the turn signal halo you cant fit the halo over it, you need to cut it. Scroll back to the first 2 pages of this thread and you will see what i mean. there is just no space to put it. |

Popped the lights, started filling the demples and converted the turn signals. Will CF Wrap them tonight.

I wish I had some sand paper and UV Sealant when I did these. That sealant is like 80.00 a bottle. He has that discoloration starting inside the light. I notice it more after I paint the lights. When there blacked out, all the imperfections in the light are easily seen.
Well they came out awesome.. 2nd Set with CF Wrap, this time I used Nylock. Piece of Sh@t. It kept tearing, the last 3M I used was thick and stretched real nice. This NyLock Stuff is crap.. http://www.the370z.com/members/nut_n...8-img-0846.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/nut_n...9-img-0845.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/nut_n...0-img-0848.jpg |
OMG that Nizzy is sexy!

Ya, those XB halos make a real clean look. I wired them into the parking lights again. I still used the Engine Enamel or Ceramic Paints, to keep the the paint from spidering from the heat. I haven't done any colored halo's yet. Colored Halos I would have to wire to a switch in the cab. Can't drive around with colored halos on in Florida unless you want a ticket, but it looks so good.
Can't wait to do Kelly's, he has the Oracle remote. I wish they made the XB's in red.. That would look sick on his car, he has all that red carbon fiber.. :tiphat: |
Ya he needs to buy Oscars Varis hood. Colored will work on mine because Dave put relays to turn them off when lights are on, and I already have switches. We can always tear mine down to see how he wired everything.

Love the lights guy.
was wondering a few things need to ask the pro. I am ordering the xb rings from retrofit and I'm not sure on size I'm also doing the G blinker projector lens and there stti lens for our main projector. Doing amber on top of white for the halos should be dope. But back to the question on size, with the blinker projector it's a 70mm and bottom is a 90mm correct any info will help I know it's posted somewhere but I'm on my phone and super short on time. Thanks in advance. |
70 and 90 and your good
|
Cool thanks Kelly.

This thread has inspired me to do my lights in the next couple weeks, ordered the Halos today. Has anyone experienced any failure using GOOP to hold the Halo's or new turn signal lense in place?

Thank you to everyone that contributed to this DIY for giving me the inspiration to do the one mod I have wanted for the longest time! I decided to color match the housing to the car and had the trim done with carbon fiber hydrographics
|
Looks awewome Lee! Wtb these hydrographics, where did you have them done?

Looks killer Chinook!

hmm well this sucks, its been 2.5 months and 1/3 of the leds on the passenger side 90mm halo have stopped working. I am expecting it to stop working all together soon. At this point i think i got a defective halo, since the other 3 halos are working just fine. BUt we will see how long they last as well. Anyone have any ideas on what could cause this? Either way im not opening these headlights again any time soon.
|
I was afraid that would happen. LEDS can be unreliable a lot of the time.
-From my phone, to space, and straight to your face. |
That stinks to hear, I think you will find it is a bad halo. My wifes are 3 years old almost and still perfect.

Sounds like the soldered connect has been broken.. Are they sealed in a plastic case like the picture on the left or are they Like XB's and sealed in resin in the picture on the right? |
They are the Morimoto xb in amber color. This sucks badly i realy dont want to open the headlight again. I most likely will drive it like this till it dies out and my car looks like a winking pirate

If you call them latter when your ready to work the warranty on them; please let us know who it goes. Joe |
Well getting them open isnt that bad but unglueing the apoxi without braking anything. Ye ill have to see how the warranty works. They are suppose to have pretty good one.

Man, I had a return customer that had one light with moisture in it. He parks his car outside.. I don't recommend anyone relies on only re-using stock sealant.
The guy that says "All you gotta do is push it back in the crack" is taking risk. Thank god the customer was driving a NISMO, only took 15min to get the bumper off and warm up the light.. If you do this stuff for other people always use new sealant: OCI Butyl Rubber Glue - Accessories from The Retrofit Source Inc $15.00 is good money for piece of mind... |

These lights, in my experience, definitely need an extra helping of sealant to make them get a good, permanent seal. Just pushing them in while the stock sealant is pliable is not enough.

On mine you can see the wires a bit i went with dead center on the plastic peice. But i drilled the hole at the bottom so you have to look close to see it. Ye the Pop out is a ******** thing to happen. You would have to open it just to put it back in which sucks probably more than mine case.

- I drill my holes toward the top of the main projection shroud to hide the wires. What I have noticed is each halo I get is different were the wires come off the XB. I try to tuck the wires into the recess of the shroud. Sometimes the wires come right off the side of the halo and wont fold behind. I have to cut a small channel into the shroud to get the halo in place. - I have used Epoxy, JB Weld, Plastic Filler, Super Glue but what I have had no problems with is AutoGoop. As crazy as it sounds it hold the G3 lens and Halos in just fine. I have had a set of halos pop out but that was on me for not using enough Goop. - I also noticed the Colored XB Halos are slightly larger than the white by millimeters. Those I have to glue on the outside.. Easy way to get a good surface to attach to in that case is use some body filler and make 4 mounting point in the Shrouds recess to glue to. - I made a mess with epoxy once, and I spent a day fixing the light. Make a mistake with the AutoGoop and it cleans up easily. Hope this helps!:tiphat: |
