I used Autogoop for the turn signal but it took a long time to dry which is why i wanted to try something else on this other one I did. I will go back to autogoop, it does look better and I like the rubbery way it dries. Another thing I might try is shaving the metal tab on the side of the halo down a bit so it doesnt rub against the inside of the shroud and drill a bigger hole so it doesnt want to pop out. We'll see when I fix his. Thanks!

Nut_N_Much 02-07-2013 01:02 PM

One one set I had to clip :shakes head: the halo in half and remove a small section to egt it to fit. I lost 2 leds, one on each side.. I was surprised the hole thing didn't shut off. These things are delicate..

Sorry to see your vinyl bubbled. I think I'm gonna take mine off and have my shrouds black chromed and paint the light the same color as the car. Kind of like Mr&Mrs lights but in Platinum Graphite.

See ya!:tiphat:

VDC_OFF 02-07-2013 01:10 PM

yikes, you are brave for that! Yeah I didnt know about the primer before i did that and it only bubbled on the first headlight I did. That was because I kept reworking the 3m which made it lose its stickiness. Its ok, no more fake carbon fiber for me though, Im ready to learn how to do real carbon.

Hi guys just wanted to fill you in on TRS's warranty and how it works. So i sent them an email explaining the situation and that i've narrowed the problem down to a defective halo. They asked me to send them some pictures to show them the problem. I took pictures of the working side and the defective side:
http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/b...pse9ab2da2.jpg
http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/b...ps130c4e08.jpg
They apologized for the defective components and said they will ship me a free replacement which should get here in 10-14 business days. So ye TRS has awsome customer service and they honour their warranties without hastle. They have my recommendation for sure.

VDC_OFF 02-12-2013 01:28 PM

thats awesome, I was afraid they wouldnt. I sent back some HID bulbs that didnt work with our cars and they would give me credit or exchange only.

Nut_N_Much 02-12-2013 03:45 PM

Aaaaaa yaaaaaaa !!!!!!! Congrats brother:tiphat:. Glad to here they took care of you. Now we know, thanks for the fallow up..

i love TRS customer service

Bigviet23 02-21-2013 06:56 PM

Ordered the halos and there's a tab sticking out how did y'all get te halo to fit on the large shroud (90mm)?

Nut_N_Much 02-21-2013 07:42 PM

What kind of halos did you get? (XB's?) if you can post a picture of the tab.

I have had to cut a channel to tuck wires into the shroud. But before we go hacking the shroud up take a quick pic and post it. :tiphat:

Ya I hate it when they come like that. I took the butt of a screw drive and carefully pushed it down so the wires went to the rear. Mine still didn't fit so I took a drill bit and at the top of the shroud I made a sallow hole, just big enough to push that part into it.

Then I inserted the wires side in the shroud first and worked the rest of the ring into the shroud carefully. If its to tight take some sand paper and lightly sand the edges of the shroud until the ring pops in. You might have to repaint that part after sanding.

Hope this helps. I'll PM you my cell, call if you want to talk. :tiphat:

VDC_OFF 02-22-2013 09:57 AM

Mine always come in like that. I have a dremel that I use to sand the inside of the shroud down as thin as possible without puncturing a hole. It helps to keep a finger on the outside of the shroud to feel if it starts getting hot, if it does stop sanding you are getting close. Definitely paint after all the drilling and sanding. Also cut the connector off the xb to feed the wire through the hole you made, solder back on after. Also note that you will have to sand your drill hole as close to the front edge as possible so the tab doesnt put pressure on the halo to make it pop out. Use Automotive Goop to glue it after painting.

Didn't paint them. Got it all in and working but now there is a little condensation in the passenger light. Any quick fixes or do I need to open it up again?

You need to open them up and rebake them, then reseal them. No quick fix to my knowledge.

Nut_N_Much 02-22-2013 02:42 PM

:iagree: Sorry man I have been out playing with my car.. Man i missed driving it!! Sorry to say but he is right brother. Crack them open, hit them with a blow dryer to make sure all the moisture is gone and reseal them. Its the only way to make sure.

Some guys will say you could try running a bead of silicon around the edge of the seal with out opening them up. That might work, but do you really want to do all the work to take them off again. NO! play it safe and reseal them.. :tiphat:

dmhenderson 02-22-2013 03:25 PM

Butyl sealant works great but it's a huge mess. Make sure you push down HARD on the headlight cover once the sealant is tacky. Use a heat gun set to low in short bursts if you have one. Works better than a hairdryer.

Bigviet23 02-22-2013 03:33 PM

Got water out. Resealing it now. With some silicone I had

Why do you think water got it? Didnt seal it tight enough? Didnt use sealant? Did you do the oven or heat gun method?

Bigviet23 02-22-2013 05:38 PM

I used the oven. Not sure why other than the fact that I didn't use sealant

dmhenderson 02-22-2013 06:00 PM

Oven is generally the way to go because it evenly distributes heat. Did you rebake them once you sealed them back up?

:driving:
Hey bud, when i seal my lights 1st I warm them up, and push sealant back in the groves. 2nd I add a new bead all the way around. 3rd I push the two half's together as tight as I can to get them started. 4th I warm them up again and work the lights together until they are perfect.

I have warmed lights up as many as 3 to 4 times to get them seal just right, especially when its cold as hell outside. You can use an oven or a box with a $25.00 heat gun it doesn't matter. I have used both ways and they work just fine just use whats easiest for you.

Don't be afraid of warming them more than once to get them fully seated. Call me if you want to talk. :tiphat:

I think I have the worse luck. Looks like the light burnt out. Looks like the metal on the little tab thing ended up touching and burned off the positive. Too tired to bother with it anymore. Will finish up tomorrow or sunday

I'm installing a 2nd set of halos as soon as the weather warms up into the 60s. Going to be a little rougher this time as it involves heavy modification to the parking light shrouds.

You can do it! Its easy, its just scary opening them for the 1st time, but when the O SH_T factor kicks in you work strait through it.

I'm sure this has probably been asked, but after a quick search of the thread it didnt jump out at me, so here goes...

Would I need the optional harness for the halos if I were going to power them off of the running lights? I assume yes, but wasn't sure and figured I would ask those who have already done it :)

Thanks in advance!

No the harness is if you plan on running the wires out of the headlights into the fuse box or as I like to run them into the cigarette lighter. This will allow you to quickly disconnect them if you take out the headlights. Running them to the parking lights keeps the wires inside the headlight.

one of the voltage regulators fried after installation though, not sure what happened as I'm 100% sure the wire was hooked up correctly. Luckily I had a spare one.

Are you using the V2 angel eyes or the V1s? I may have some bad news for you :/

Sorry to here about the burn out.. I recommend the XB because they have 12V resistors attached to them from factory.. All is included in the warrenty.. I believe my current lights are V1's, I have been to lazy to swap them out, but will have some recovery time on my hands to catch up on projects..
