I called RetroFit the other day about the XB's with tabs. I told them I was disappointed they shipped me a set with tabs. The manager said to call and place your order, they carry both (w/Tabs & wo/tabs) and to just let them know. I asked them if they could add that to there drop down menu, he said they would look into it.

That looks nice and clean, That is defiantly a solution to fix the yellowish/green tint the XB's have. Thats awesome man..

I found some diffuser covers on tmart.com that cover them perfectly. However there is a little bit of cutting you have to do to make them fit on the 370z lights. You have to evenly cut a few mm's of the outer edge of the 90mm and cut the 3 tabs off both but then they look like this.

Crap! I wonder if they will take back my XBs for exchange. I'll have to call.

I got some teasers today from my painter.

Thanks, you can just leave it in the comments or special instructions when you order. Btw I have seen some variance in color output from some of the tabless. At first they were a bluish white now they seem to be bright white.

Another thing to add is that with the diffuser, the diameter of the 70mm is increased greatly. This means you have to shave into the housing a lot and on all three sides. I am now considering 60mm to see if those fit better.

OK.....

I was a little put off of the yellowish color of the XB's at first. To be honest, now that things are coming together I actually like it! However, my wife wasn't so crazy about it. I know....I know.... you guys probably think that doesn't matter, but the Z is "our" project car. Anyway, I looked up those light covers from Tmart. For $10 it was hard not to order them and give it a try. I contacted rhetrofitsource about swapping my XB's for the new White/white ones and they were ok with that. I think I'll just get the 60mm's as opposed to the 70's. My shrouds are already painted and I don't want to do anymore cutting. I've got the covers coming first so I can test fit things before I actually exchange the XB's. I hate to extend this project out anymore, but I want to get this JUST RIGHT, before I put them back together.

thanks everyone for your input, this thread has definitely been a great help!

I hear ya man!

It's winter here, so I've got the car put away anyhow. Lucky I have a daily driver to get through Chicago winters!!! Time to play is another thing though. I'm also finishing a basement, taking to old dogs back and forth to the vet constantly, helping my wife start a new business, and continue my training for the upcoming triathlon season. I have the time the car can be down, but don't really have the time to play with the lights. Too much other stuff going on right now!

Yeah that's a lot on your plate. I'm in the middle of a garage remodel so the place is a wreck. Plus I'm in Florida and it's currently 81* here hahaha, I drive the Z every day.

Just ordered 8 red flat mount led's and 8 blue ones, as well as some new drl led's and white turn signal led's for my headlight mod. That will be a lot less drilling and wiring. I also got some "cool white" flat mount led's for some foot well lighting when I open the doors, and maybe something actually on the doors, not sure yet. We have that red reflector thing on the doors, I've been wondering if I could put a light in that thing.

I just figured out 3 LEDs I the strip lights stuck to the reflective shroud is just about as bright as 6! So I'm sticking them in with 3m tape. I put a little epoxy on the edges to keep it on good and will be drilling 1 small hole in the shroud to run the wires out of.

So.. I'm planning on cracking open my headlights tomorrow and paint them. I've read this whole thread and others, some people say no need to prep others say scuff then paint with krylon fusion, scuff then use automotive primer then use X type of paint. In short I'm confused!! I want to do this once and do it right.. So what are the steps I should use to get a durable and lasting end result?? Help me guys!!

You might not need to scuff it, but I would just to be safe. Then use Krylon Fusion and you're good to go
