DIY: How to raise your factory seat to improve visibility

I did this last week to my Z as well. It just adds that little bit of height needed to give me the right seating position. Sent from my XT1096

Just did this today to the Z. Wish you still had the pictures but it was pretty easy to do. Took about 10-15 mins. Great mod for short people like me

I know the passenger seat would benefit from this mod but, wont the adjustment knobs on the side of the driver's seat help you raise the seat?

I assume this will apply to the nismo seats too...can anyone confirm? I would love to do this mod this weekend...mainly because I could not find any smaller aftermarket side view mirrors!

Why only two bolts and spacers? Wouldn't you want 4, 2 for front and 2 for back?

if u look at the seat rail, u will notice that the front is angled so u cant add extra spacers on the front. the seat adjusters have enough range to give you a nice flat ride for ur butt, so no worries.

Yes, they do fit the NISMOs. I have a 2016.

I ordered the bolts and spacers through boltdepot.com

If you want to continue using the plastic caps, you'll want to use these bolts.

15855 Metric JIS hex bolts, Zinc plated class 8.8 steel, 10mm x 1.25mm x 50mm

13733 Spacers, Zinc plated steel, 3/8" x 1" (3/4" O.D.)

Easy install, but I had a friend sit on the seat to help the alignment when dropping bolts back through.

Good luck!

No worries Kenchan.. Yeah, it seems simple enough to do.

I bought two zinc plated class 10.9 steel 10mm x 1.25mm x 50mm bolts @ .89 cents each

https://www.boltdepot.com/Metric_hex..._x_1.25mm.aspx

And two zinc plated steel spacers 3/8" x 1" (3/4" O.D.) @ $2.21

https://www.boltdepot.com/Spacers_Zi...steel_3_8.aspx

I did not buy any washers because I thought I could re-use the existing ones but nissan used some kind of black magic spell and they are forever stuck on the stock bolts.... so I suggest buying some washers while your at it. The bolts from bolt depot are large enough they will not slide through your seat bracket hole but a washer would just give the hole thing more strength.

So if you raise just the rear of the seat, won't the front angled mounting points no longer line up correctly so that when tightened down they wont mount flush? Will they be at even more of an angle?
