Im a little late to the party, but just FYI "8.8" bolts ARE NOT as strong as grade 8. More like grade 5. If it were me, I would replace those with grade 8 bolts. As far as grade 8 bolts shearing, all I can say is that is what was recomended for mounting the corbeaus in my 240z and spacers were also involved. Of course this is still at your own risk.

yep, class 8.8 is about SAE Grade5, but that's plenty strong for this application imho. that is why i posted Grade5 in the DIY since most folks are more familiar with SAE J429. (or maybe ASTM? then A449). Grade8 would be a class 10.9 which is for heavy duty work.

We still don't know much about Kenchan but after this DIY we know you are short.

Unlike most asians my torso is very short vs my limbs. I sat in my buddy's Cayman the other day...I'm taller than him but his seating position was like damn... I can't see shitt.

Did something similar for the passenger seat so my tiny gf can see out the front window lol.

Very confident in its design and strength.

Default bolt depot

Thanks for the post. I just did this... took about 15 - 20 min. I am 5'-8" so not the tallest mofo but I do like sitting up high. I went online to the bolt depot and bought my stuff, worked perfect thanks the specs kenchan had posted.

I bought two zinc plated class 10.9 steel 10mm x 1.25mm x 50mm bolts @ .89 cents each

https://www.boltdepot.com/Metric_hex..._x_1.25mm.aspx

And two zinc plated steel spacers 3/8" x 1" (3/4" O.D.) @ $2.21

https://www.boltdepot.com/Spacers_Zi...steel_3_8.aspx

I did not buy any washers because I thought I could re-use the existing ones but nissan used some kind of black magic spell and they are forever stuck on the stock bolts.... so I suggest buying some washers while your at it. The bolts from bolt depot are large enough they will not slide through your seat bracket hole but a washer would just give the hole thing more strength.

Thumbs up

I was on the fence about doing this but the bolt products you suggested swayed me into pursuing this. I ordered from the same place, Bolt Depot.

On another note I do believe we just brought up a 2 year old DIY.

So if you raise just the rear of the seat, won't the front angled mounting points no longer line up correctly so that when tightened down they wont mount flush? Will they be at even more of an angle?

I did this last week to my Z as well. It just adds that little bit of height needed to give me the right seating position.

I know the passenger seat would benefit from this mod but, wont the adjustment knobs on the side of the driver's seat help you raise the seat?

I assume this will apply to the nismo seats too...can anyone confirm? I would love to do this mod this weekend...mainly because I could not find any smaller aftermarket side view mirrors!
