Hi again, I remember you from the camera kit and if I remember correctly you are not to far from me. Let me know if you would be interested in taking a trip to me to get an early unit in exchange for being able to take some pictures and of course a refund on the shipping charge.

Anyone else willing to drive to Princeton area of NJ to take me up on that offer, let me know.

bdl99, that works for me. I'm not too far from you in Howell, NJ. Just let me know when you are available and i will drive out.

I don't know why you guys don't just cut the wire and do like the pic where you put a electrical connector on both sides and plug it back in when not in use.

I would guess like me some just like to play it safe and prefer no to butcher their car's wiring so early.

What browser are you using? The "Add to Cart" button should be at the bottom of the page just under the box for your 370z screen name.

Because there isn't a lot of room or wire to play with and it means cutting the original car harness. Cutting the original wire is certainly an option that some have and will take, but this is for people who don't want to.

Great, I will send you an email/PM so we can arrange it. I could do later this week or at the weekend.

That's what I don't get unplug the harness cut and install 2 pigtails and reinstall,I don't see the problem,if you cut the wire and don't want it like that anymore plug the 2 pigtails together.

You can't unplug both ends of the existing car harness. You can unplug the plug from the steering lock but the other end is part of the wiring loom. Take a look and you will see what everyone is talking about.

As I said, you can do what you are saying, but you will have to do in the car with little room to play with. If the connectors were not available then I would do as you say, but then I'm good with a soldering iron and car wiring.

I didn't know that the harness doesn't come out,I would still put the electrical connectors on it but I already have a "D" lock.

Still hopping to meet the original plan:
"This is a pre-ordering which will open Saturday May 19th and we expect to ship within ~2 Weeks."

I'm fitting one on Saturday to get pictures etc and confirm final design. The main factor effecting shipping date is receiving the sockets (we already have the plugs). They are expected late next week and assuming that happens orders should start shipping out 1-2 days later.

This morning we installed the final version in hcolba's car

Here is a photo of the harness kit

And here is a video of us installing

Everything is ready to go except the sockets which should be here late next week. As soon as they arrive we will start shipping the kits.

KaienZ34 05-26-2012 02:46 PM

simota1 05-26-2012 03:18 PM

KaienZ34 05-26-2012 05:00 PM

Just paid for mine my good man, i can't wait for it to come in. Thanks again...

hcolba 05-27-2012 08:33 AM

Update: patch kit installed yesterday morning by bdl99 (thanks Brian). Install went well and cables were looped and zip tied up and out of sight. Have stopped and re-started approximately 10-12 times and no problems or faults-kit works flawlessly. I didn't want to take the easy way out and cut the brown wire since I am still under warranty...and you know the dealer will use any opportunity available to void a warranty fix if possible. I was fully ready to pick up a spare steering lock in case I got stranded, so in my book this kit saved my approximately $450.

Ok so; car off, unhook the OEM plug from the lock, plug bypass into the lock with the pigtails still hooked up. Then plug in the OEM plug into the bypass plug, turn the "ACC" on and unplug the pigtails, zip tie it out of the way and done. Is this all i'll need to do?
