No I had to modify the shifter a little and the boot a little,if enough people are interested in this I took pics while I did it so I will post on this thread or make a new one to DIY.

Please post it here so it can be the official thread lol

Warning this mod is not for the light hearted it requires some grinding on the shifter housing & console piece.

Some of the pics aren't the best but for those of you able to do this can easily fill in the blanks.
http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/z...3/IMG_0125.jpg
After removing the silver cover you will see 4 clips that hold on the PRND plastic cover.
http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/z...3/IMG_0126.jpg
Here are the ones in the front.
http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/z...3/IMG_0127.jpgAfter unclipping it just pull the black cover straight up and remove it.
http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/z...3/IMG_0128.jpg
You will see the little light with a bulb in it just pull it out and store it for later.
http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/z...3/IMG_0130.jpg
Here is where is gets tricky disassemble the shift boot and take the bottom piece and try to fit it over and you will see where it hits this is where you have to grind on the shifter housing.
http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/z...3/IMG_0131.jpg
You must also cut the bottom piece to fit(TRIM IT SLOWLY).
http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/z...3/IMG_0132.jpgThis is a little knob sticking off to the side just cut it off.
http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/z...3/IMG_0133.jpgTake your time once all 3 pieces fit (the bottom to the console, the middle leather piece, and the silver trim ring)then just reassemble the boot assembly and install.

That looks good. Nicely done.

Great mod - looks so much better. Question, how is the shift boot held or affixed to the shift lever under the knob? Does the top of the boot attach under the shift knob somehow? Also, in the photos it looks like method simply places the new shift boot over the P/D/N/R plate- Is this correct?

the bottom of the shift knob comes down enough that there's very little gab between the boot ring and the knob.

and, yes, with my method you leave the circular plate, as it wedges the boot in place

Cool - Thanks for the info!

I ordered a aftermarket chrome shift knob which will be in next week so I will post pics of my 6sp conversion when I'm done.

If anyone is in the process of doing this mod, can you post the dimensions of the shift boot? Height, diameter at bottom, diameter at the top and the overall length? Thinking of finding an aftermarket Alcantara boot and using that.
