Default Doing my own diy hood lift strut

I called the Nissan Customer Service and "whined"/ complained about the that stupid $2 hood prop that has distorted my hood alignment . I think it is the #1 must do/have mod on this car. I have checked out this forum's DIY for the hood lift strut and I've decided to make my own that requires no drilling, cutting or grinding. I'm making my own brackets from 16 ga stainless steel. Thanks to the Modshack for your DIY for this mod. Will post pics when completed.

so how are you going to mount the base again without hitting any of the brake and battery covers? the only clearance you can get is through the modshack DIY, i thinks. otherwise he would've thought of something before.

also, how did you manage to distort your hood with the hood prop??

I'm adding a DIY kit too with add-on button on my KEY FOB to automatically pop my hood and raise it

I'm confused. How did the OEM hood prop distort your hood alignment if you placed it back in correctly?

I would think that even if the prop wasn't seated in it's place when the hood was closed that the prop would bend or break of it's mount before the hood would come out of alignment.

Hello All, Let me 1st address the hood mis-alignment.

There is only 1 cheap hood prop which is on the Driver's side so the majority of the weight of the hood is sagging on the Passenger's side of the car.
Has anyone measured the gap between the hood and the bumper at the passenger side and the driver's side of their car?

I made my own bracket also used a different style of strut and I don't have any issues hitting any of the covers. I have done this with other cars that I've owned. I will post the pics when I'm all done with it.

370zsport09, Can you make something with a remote to open the Rear Hatch. There should be a button on the remote to make it pop open or even a button inside the car to pop it open. That will be my next mission after I put in the something to quiet down the road noise.
