Installed a rear back up cam using this method and a NAVTOOL + License plate bulb lens sony CCD camera off ebay.
Navtool also did some "V.A.V.E" on their part and now its a black box with just leads coming out of it for all connections including video 1/2 etc. Its small enough that I could leave it inside the instrument panel. They label the leads. The only one that was mildly confusing was the "Accessory Power input" which turned out just to be the +12V supply line to power the device. The most difficult part is correctly identifying the reverse signal wire. I had to probe several "orange" wires until I found the correct one in harness in the trunk on the drivers side.
