No, leave the harness in place and just unplug the Navtool box. With my incorrect y shaped harness the nav screen still showed up even when the Navtool was not

No, leave the harness in place and just unplug the Navtool box. With my incorrect y shaped harness the nav screen still showed up even when the Navtool was not connected. This is obviously wrong since the Navtool is supposed to interrupt and switch the video signal.
If your toggle switch doesn't work then maybe your cable is wrong. That's the first thing I noticed.
