Looking for some 370z information
Hello everyone,
I am about to purchase my first Z and I was wondering if you guys could help me out? 1. I saw that the 2015 nissan 370z Nismo is coming out soon and possibly for sale in July. Does that mean there will be a new Nissan 370z for retail or is Nismo =/= normal 370z touring? 2. If the above means there is a new 370z coming out, should I wait a month? 3. Does anyone drive their 370z in the winter? I am kinda..reluctant to drive such a nice car in the winter but, I love driving so... what do you owners feel? 4. I am from Toronto so it does get snowy here...have any people hit any problems? Thank you! A.G |
wait a year or two for the new Z then wait another year for them to iron out issues. unless you're buying used 2009-2010 for $25k I wouldn't get a new one now
I drive mine all year. rust proof yearly and skinny snow tires are a must for winter |
What issue are known in the 2014 model? I did a quick google search but i didnt seem to show any major issues

2)they have not officially announced a new 370 but there are rumors and hints that they may be ending the 370 to make way for the new Zcar in 2 years or so. 3)many people drive their 370 in the winter. i personally know maybe 7-8 people who do. No problems beyond what you would expect from a RWD sports car in the snow. Its not a 4x4 but its also not undrivable. If you prepare yourself properly (don't drive like a retard, snow tires, car wash often, rust proof etc) you'll be fine. 4)we're almost all from toronto. most of us dont winter the Z, but as i've said before, many do. Just dont get a very aggressive front lip/body kit and you'll be fine. I highly suggest wrapping the front of your car in clear. there are no real issues with the car that need to be addressed immediately besides perhaps a thermostatic oil cooler. Depends how you drive, if you like to kick the back out often and redline or if you drive in traffic a lot (if yes to traffic, you'll likely need an oil cooler)... why our cars didnt come with out from factory i will never understand. Only other issues i remember right now is the olders Zs had issues with steering lock failure. but that's been resolved a long time ago (and even if its not, come hang out with us for coffee and we'll fix it for you in the parking lot) grats on your new Z, welcome to the family :) |
Just what ever you do please don't be one of those guys…………..that drive their Z in the winter, all car guys are looking at you thinking WTF are you doing in february as you roll by in a sports car over priced snowplow 2-3" off the ground
|
sorry Zefaulter and others that winter the Z but it had to be said cause he asked……
|
LMAO Yea Mike no worries man, I respect your opinion but I enjoy driving the Z rain or shine. I pay to drive it not leave it parked 6 months a year.
Kira, don't be one of those guys who pay for a car and leave it parked in garage. It's an amazing car but not a classic or even that expensive. People are buying this thing for close 20k now(not new of course) |
Btw, I don't drive if there is snow on the ground obviously but I have snow tires just in case
|
This past winter was brutal. A think an above average amount of snow?
What would you recommend as a method for coping? Tbh, I wanted to drive it in the winter, but if it starts to snow like mad, and I have to go to work...I will need an alternative method... |
Nismo being equal to Sport/Touring is subjective to interpretation but whoever you ask, they will tell you theirs is superior. (see response #1) Drive both and decide.
Right now I would say you are a good 4-5 years away from a seasoned next-gen Z that has had some of the bugs worked out so no sense waiting for it. |

What's the amount of snow the 370z can handle?

I think he means when it's snowing it's not fun. I don't disagree. Although you can go to a parking lot with a little bit of snow and turn of traction and then you know how a rwd car drives. I'm not encouraging illegal behaviour! It's good to know how a car behaves in snow/ice if you'll be driving it in those conditions.
when it's dry you can have a lot of fun! |

I drove it all winter in Toronto with 19" lm-60's no problem at all.
|
I wintered my Z for 1 year (luckily it was the one with no snow) then said fk it and bought a beater. I actually prefer it this way so I can do whatever the hell I want in the winter without worrying and then every spring it is like driving a brand new car.
That aside, with some proper winter tires it drives fine in light snow as long as you keep your foot out of it. |

Also downtown Toronto doesn't even get snow like we do in SW Ontario so you guys can ┌П┐(•_•)┌П┐ Once you lower the car I think wintering is also next to impossible if you have any or expect any accumulation…… |

Off topic: no but certain ones will dust a non boosted Z……….buddy has a SRT8 Cherokee and it is much faster then us he has done a few things to it and it has to be well over 500whp by now…..:shakes head: |

On a side note, if anyone wants to but stock 18s with lm60 winter tires used for 5 months let me know.

I think i'll be going with a winter beater unless there is no snow on the ground....

I just bought my new 2014 370z this past saturday! Extremely excited!
I paid 49 400 for gun metallic, auto matic, navi and sport package with anti rust protection. (After tax and freight) Also got free BBQ unit (200 value) and 5 free oil changes from dealer. |

Z & winter? = go shopping for another car.
I picked my Z up in March, and snuck it home at 70km/h on the highway... Once i got into residential I had to reverse my car several times and take multiple attempts at proceeding in a forwards direction. The tires on my car were brand new with zero miles, so plenty of tread. Granted not winter tires, but I don't think I would count on winter tires making this a snow mobile. My Z roams the streets from April to October and thats it. HIbernation after that. |

PS. Watch out for the mod bug, I hear it's contagious :D |
I live in London, Ontario (snow belt) and have driven my Z the past two winters without a backup and have never had a problem. Get good winter tires, drive smart, and you will be fine.
|
Don't get stock size winter tires though
|
Could you tell me which winter tires you would recommend? I'll refer back to this topic when winter gets closer.
My current plan for the winter is basically subway. I live uptown Toronto and work Downtown..Add in some snow and it'll take 2 hours to commute. Might as well subway. Another question I would like to ask is: What do you guys do to maintain your Z? Things that a beginner like me could learn or just do right away. Like wiping the engine clean perhaps with a damp cloth...Vacuum the car...Check tires, etc. This is basically my very first car that I will be owning, so forgive my ignorant question. |
I have driven my nismo (lower body clearance i think) all year round for 2 years. 18" winter tires and rims. I drove with summer tires the winter before last year. Kinda fun. Just drive carefully and dont get stuck in snow piles and you will be ok. But hate to see the chassis got rusty.

100% get bumper and full hood clear bra ASAP. I cannot stress this enough specially because you will drive during the winter too. opticoat is good too. research that and contact GaleForce from here if you want it done. all these are prevention. you will be spending around 1k but trust me its worth it. as for the tires, I run 18" wheels with 235 wide tires. you will need really wide spacers specially for the rears if you don't want it to look weird. |
