Just go in and tell them it's not working properly. If they can replicate the problem, they'll fix it, no questions asked. If not, they may give you the run

Just go in and tell them it's not working properly. If they can replicate the problem, they'll fix it, no questions asked. If not, they may give you the run around, but it's your job to keep at it, if it is in fact defective.
....on a side note, are you sure it's malfunctioning? It only opens when the doors are unlocked.
