That's not their business
All they need is, are you within 3years/36k miles (Translate into Canadia), and what's the problem?
If the answer is "yes" to your car still being under the warranty, they'll replace the cap

sorry i shoulda specified ! its the not the cap, its the (fuel door), you know that little white tip that goes in and out when you lock and unlock. it doesnt work all the time.

so your saying, if i take it in, they wont ask me if ive had my car serviced every time it says i should in the manual?

No, if they do, tell them to F off and die.
Then go to another dealership. There's no correlation between gas lid and anything else, bringing it in for service wouldn't help. Now if your motor blows or consumes oil... That's a different story, then they'll ask for oil change records, but even if you did them yourself, you'd just have to show receipts for oil


By the way, if that's your fear, you should look for another dealership. I have dealt with 2 dealers that would let me drive my car into their garage too, LOL
