Radar detectors and Laser Jammers are 2 different things. Lasers can be jammed by dispersing the laser beam with an interruption field. It doesn't matter if you're in the laser's line of sight. Police usually targets the front bumper/grille of the car with their Laser LIDAR, and the laser jammers are usually installed inside the grille, which causes the LIDAR unable to obtain a target. Quick google search Antilaser G9 - Best Laser Jammers Canada - KMPH.ca Youtube video sample http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltSR7...layer_embedded Beltronics and Escort Passport are the two brands that I could recall which makes laser Jammers. There are more brands that makes them but I forgot what they're called. Please note that I am not endorsing one to buy/install one. I am merely providing some facts.
