Default Next brake upgrade - 2pc rotor or stilled brake ducts

Hey everyone! I've just started racing my Z this past season. I have a nice set of sticky toyo r888s, the z1 SS brake lines, motul rbf600 fluid, and a set of HP+ pads which despite the bad rep I have actually enjoyed for track use. I was wondering if someone would give me some input on what they'd think the best next move may be, either the two piece Z1 front rotors for both weight savings and better braking or the stiller brake ducting? Any input/experience is greatly appreciated!

As much as I want to say rotors (see my review) cooling ducts are probably a better choice
FL 4Motion and critical like this.

Default Cooling Ducts

DEpointfive0 is right. Cooling ducts can help quite a bit. No sense in getting costly 2 piece rotors if you cant dissipate the heat. I should have gone that route and now ill pay for it. Heat is our worst enemy while racing. Heat soak in the engine compartment, Oil coolers, trans coolers, diff coolers, ect.

Your 2 piece rotors should also last a lil longer without warping from the heat.

You have an oil cooler already? Brake cooling ducts, sway bars, camber adjustable upper control arms.

Brake cooling ducts for sure. It'll make your track time more enjoyable than 2-piece rotors will. Better pads on stock rotors will work just fine.

Yup! I have a 25 row oil cooler. My oil temps were in the 220-230 range at the most on a 70 degree day on the road course. I didn't really get much brake fade, but I did have a scary moment or two where one corner may have gotten a bit hot I think. I have sway bars, eibach springs, camber adjustment, etc etc. I was strictly speaking for braking purposes. So I'm thinking brake ducting and hold off on the 2 piece rotors til the tax rebate come around again.

I have both the racing brake 2 piece rotors and stillen brake ducts. I took off the ducts because i didnt want to drill holes in my amuse bumper. I havnt had any issues without the ducts running and with track use. But if u do one or the other i would go with the ducts

Thanks Lukas, ended up ordering the ducts. Maybe with the tax rebate in a few months I'll get the 2 pc rotors just to finish off the brakes for a while. Don't really feel like I'd need a big brake system with all these upgrades.

I agree with the recommendations here, but I just couldn't pass up Z1's black Friday deal on the 2 piece fronts, single rears, stainless steel brakelines, pads and brake fluid for well under 1K.

It was tempting Hotrodz, but with order the brake ducting already, having to do an oil change, and still with Xmas shopping to do I had to pass on the rotors Thankfully I do already have the SS lines, fluid, and decent pads. Definitely made a world of difference with the braking.

10-4...I was going to do the same thing, but I decided to bite the bullet. It's all good regardless which way we dd it. Better performance for sure.
