If you can't swap pads, there is no solution that will give you track-worthy performance and conform to your requirements above. If you are experienced on the track, even if you don't track often, you should probably suck it up for noise/dust during DD use and go with a track oriented pad. Although a good compromise might be to change pads at your shop a few days before the track event and then swap back after the event.

In my experience, most track pads require heat in them for them to work properly. When I have used my track pads driving to/from the track, I experience much longer stopping distances. I would caution against using a track pad for DD.

You're absolutely right. I didn't mean an all out racing pad for DD. But if you have to pick one pad for both track and DD, I would pick one that leans more towards track use. Your tolerances are a lot tighter at the track when pushing the car, and I'd rather not put my car into the wall because of brake fade. It is a balance that each individual has to consider based on their ability at the track and the amount of track time vs street time.

My RC6 are a pretty hardcore track pad but they bite just as hard when cold as I could possibly want. That said, I've never driven with them in the winter, so I really don't know how they'd be below 60-70 degrees for the first few stops, YMMV. |
