Hey guys,
I have the Z1 Akebono brake upgrade kit on my base, I love the kit but I am having one problem with it. The rotors are oxidising below where the pads hit the rotor, Can you all give my a solution to this problem?

That's a small ring but if it bothers you maybe mask off rotor and hit it with black high temp paint?

Apparently they do but you may have to hunt it down online, don't know if the local store will have a huge selection. I know most around here will just have the usual red, blue, black etc.
Try this: http:// http://www.duplicolor.com/products/enginePaint/ Clear is at the bottom. ![]()

Just use a high temp gloss or semi gloss black paint. You really dont need to clear coat them. Looks like you keep your Z pretty clean and avoid brake dust build up. Thats what I did on my rotors. I just cleaned off the rust with some fine steel wool and cleaned up with some brake cleaner.

I doubt any clearcoat could withstand that rotor temp that well, tbh. Especially since that ring is directly on the braking surface.

Think the first time your brakes get HOT. Any paint that's in that area will get cooked off. My 2 cents.

I just recently installed ECB USR rotors. They come painted black, but the pad rubs the black off most of the rotor during the bedding process. I purchased some Rustoleum 2000F High Temp spray paint for the slots based on the recommendation of another forum member who purchased the 1000F temp stuff, but I didn't have time to paint the slots before the install.

I'm thinking of getting the high temp paint. Cleaning off the rust and painting the area we will see how it goes, thanks for all your input guys!
