This is the exact setup I've been considering, but I decided to put it of indefinitely. If I go through with it I need to have extra money just in case I need a camber kit. The last thing I need is to be chewing up tires at an accelerated pace..If I just got as close to spec as possible without a camber kit, how bad would the wear on the tires be?

It won't be that bad, but it also depends on how much you drive your car. Mine is at -1.4 fronts and -1.9 rears and the wear is perfectly fine, got 25K on the car right now.
