Those tools look really useful, nice find!
They are being connected at the bleeder on the caliper, right? If so then whether the caliper piston moves or not is irrelevant, the pressure within the caliper should be equal on both sides. Now, if there is a pinched line or hose somewhere leading to that FR then you would have the result you indicated, slow pressure build up in the caliper.
