How much of a drop can we expect on the Nismo with the swift springs?
If one were to put 20" wheels with the Swift springs, what would the ideal front offset be?

I would also like to know more about the swift springs on the nismo.

I know amplified is sold out but did you check with kamispeed or 370ztune?

tsolin01 02-01-2011 09:52 AM

All sold out from swift until March they all say. Kamispeed thought they had it in stock then called swift and all sold out.

Yup,

they're out of stock until March, but like I've been telling everyone else, you guys should start pre-ordering pretty soon I have a feeling they'll sell out before they arrive in march.

Hey guys just got my car aligned.

Front: -1.75
Rear: -2.50

Should I invest in alignment kits?

Baer383 02-04-2011 04:33 PM

Yes, front and rear

What is this? Weren't there quite a few people on here saying that camber arms are not necessary with this spring setup?

Wow, I came in under -2.0 in the rear and around -1.6 in the front. That is definitely off, especially the rear.

It's always going to vary from car to car. That does sound pretty off for the amount of drop though.

370Z JT 02-04-2011 10:39 PM

Yea I'm gonna get at the SPC rear kit.

The front is pretty close to factory specs right?

Shamu 02-06-2011 07:52 PM

Anyone get corner weights stock and with these springs? I'm interested in how weight gets distributed. Anyone have actual specs on these springs? Anyone have them in stock?

Spring Drop: Front 1.2 / Rear 1.0 (inches)
Spring Rate: Front 10 / Rear 10.5 (kg/mm)

Those are currently in back order from Japan but they're coming in stock in march, I suggest you pre-order though, they are pre-selling quick.

Okay, so i happened across ClemsonWill's photos; he also has Black Z with RE-11's and TE37's but has not lowered the car. So, this makes for a good visual for what the drop is like with the Swift springs. Hope you don't mind me comparing Clemson :) Here is his vehicle without springs:

And mine with the Swift springs:

One more angle:

And for an update, mine have not really settled anymore than what i originall got which is: 1.25" front 1" rear.

I purchased my Swift Sport Springs from Lou at Amplified Motorsports and installed today by the fine folks at AAM Competition up in Annapolis Junction, MD. I had just enough time to pick the car up and drive through rush hour traffic home but I really like it so far. The visual is great but I'm still reserving my opinions for the performance until later. Until then, here are some great photos taken by Jon at AAM Competition showing my Z before and after.

Well crap. Scrapped the cans today! Speed bump was not even that big, but I did not CRAWL over it like I usually do. Do yourself a favor and C.R.A.W.L. over every single speed bump or you can scrape the cans! Its not that bad but it still bothers me. Not sure it's even worth trying to fix it at this point. I might just paint them flat black anyway...

What part of the cans did you scrape? I've only scraped the bottom edge of the can, so it is barely noticeable. I can only imagine what it would be like after installing the springs. I wonder if Tony can retool his design to raise up the cans a bit since it seems like there is over 1" of headroom.

speedworks 02-09-2011 07:18 PM

^^ Guys don't worry about scraping, just have Tony weld on skid plates to the exhaust cans. I had it done for me over a year ago, and have never even noticed they are there. I will be ready for when I first scrape.

Thanks! I had a local autobody shop take care of them for me. 4r3s on the forum here also went to the same place for his blue Z and the handles came out looking super as well.

Thanks! I'll keep you guys posted as to what if anything needs to be done with the camber or alignment. Haven't had the car with the springs long enough to comment. I'm told though that there should not be a need to adjust camber with these springs but I'll likely take it into have it checked to be sure.

It was the lowest part of the cans toward the top. Just the edge so it's not bad or anything. Another thing I noticed is there were some long scratches on the cans much higher up and there is no way the speed bump did those. I am thinking it was debris or rocks! It's gonna happen I guess, such a shame as they are so nice looking! In the end they are just exhaust cans.

ZeeingAround 02-10-2011 11:55 AM

Thanks for the reviews guys. I am ordering a set.

FINALLY got my Swift springs and Stillen sways installed yesterday.
I'll post pics tomorrow after I've had a chance to wash her and take decent pics.
I got a 4-wheel alignment done at the same time and they were NOT able to align the wheels to within factory specs.
Please find attached a copy of the factory specs and the results.
Anybody have any recommendations on what I should get to correct everything?

Edit: 2/12/11 10:20pm
Saw the post from Spohn regarding his Z, and his reference to the great deal from THMotorSports for the SPC Combo Camber Kit.
Just ordered them.

Rear camber arms?

atl370z 02-12-2011 07:43 PM

Got mine installed last week.

What do you think the back? I'll probably need a alignment right?

Unfortunately, they were NOT able to get the alignment within specs, so I have camber kits (front and back) coming to be installed soon.
Here's what it looks like so far.
3 pics from before (side, front gap, rear gap), the same pics from after, and the initial alignment results.

Edit: 2/14/11 9:30pm
Added a decent picture in the sun.

speedworks 02-13-2011 02:38 PM

So, it looks like just your camber is out - 0.1 in the front, and very close to the edge in the rear. If anything, I would look to do something for the front. Toe and Caster are good.

True, but they're right at the limits. I'd rather have everything nicely centered. A little bit of OCD here.

speedworks 02-13-2011 06:58 PM

^^ I hear ya, but honestly, they don't come from the factory in the center, and your car could have very well been at the other end of the range before the lowering. Camber is camber, if you have any you will get more wear in the inner side, with less camber it will be less (width) of wear, but you will still get wear. Look at the benefits you will get on turning grip. :)

Question for the forum..... I have had my springs installed for about 1.5 weeks. When I go over speed bumps and similar road changes at a slow speed my springs make a creaking sound. I imagine it has to do with the way the springs are sitting in the rubber. Is this cause for concern? Should I look at rotating them within their seats? Thanks ahead of time for any replies.

I have not heard any of this on my car, but you can try jacking the car up and unloading the suspension and then rotating the spring a bit. Other than that, can you tell if it is coming from the front or the back?
