Since you probably hear about these things before the rest of us--any buzz on adjustable dampers coming out for the Z? I would love to get some Koni yellows or something for my Z. |
I totally agree the Swift Springs are great for the price and very well matched with the stock shocks, BUT if you are planning to track the car or put R compound tires on there they are going to be undersprung.
For street use, light auto-x or track, they are the best value. If you are doing heavier track use, with grippier tires, and higher speed tracks it is definitely better to get something like KW's, since they are double adjustable(Individual compression and rebound), which are also a great value. |

Black cherry is so badazz, looks awesome Wheee!

I took off the sport chin spoiler as a pre-emptive move. It rubs a little on the wheel wind deflectors still but only over curbs.
But I love the ride and look! |
hey guys ive had my swift spec r's for a week now and ive only settled 5/8 up front and 1/2 in rear anyone else drop only half way? wtf...
|
What's your height from road to fender TDC?
|
those who want to buy a set, Swift has already pre-sold over half of whats coming in so if you want a set I suggest you pre-order (for more info click on my sig)

I know most people freak out about now being able to get the camber back into factory specs, but I'm loving the fact that I can run enough camber to actually grip now. Still don't have my exact alignment dialed in, but I'm loving the improvements here.
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3...1/DSC_0062.jpg I think I could use some spacers for the stock rims though :rofl2: |
My thoughts on the camber exactly, turn in is much improved and the car just bites with more immediacy. It is to be expected as stock camber is adjusted for tire wear, not performance.

I'm trying to figure out what size spacers to go with.... I think I'll need at least 25's out back.
|
In the middle of an install (can't finish the back because a locking nut broke on the wheel, and can't get it off), but I think I know a possible reason for those with abnormal heights. When I separated the fronts, and attempted to put the springs in the same spots as the OEM, I found out that the they don't start/stop the coils in the same spot. So, if you attempt to put the tophat in the same ending spot (on the coil), the only way to install them is to pre-load the springs, by turning the strut, and this will cause a height difference. I chose to take the strut back apart and match up the top and bottom alignments so it fit back in without any preload (and no turning), but the tophat rubber mount is not in the same place as the OEM (no biggie, I don't think).
|
Got the broke lugnut off, so finished it today. Took it for a spin, car rides great, and it looks great. Now I just need the bronze f14s to show up, and do an alignment.

Repost - OEM stock height and Swift height
Reposting this for those looking for the OEM stock height to determind how much drop Swift has and how much more they need to settle. Quote:

Not here, I have been out of spec for the last 15k miles which is probably how I was able to get 26k off the OEM 050 tires. And that was running performance settings over tire life settings. Spacers...haha...a change of mind. What I am interested in seeing from members probably more so than the drop photos IS the alignment specs. This will give prospective buyers of the Swift springs an idea if they will need ANY kind of camber kits, be it front or rears. Of course that would depend on the driving style and preference along with a major decision to run with a setup for performance or run with a setting for tire life. Quote:

It will take some miles for them to settle in. OEM Stock height is: Fr 27.87 & Rr 27.99 Swift drop would take them to: Fr 26.67 & Rr 26.99 |
Alignment spec sheets
Ok here are both alignment spec sheets for PG and Red. Note both cars are twins with identical mods. Also the alignment sheet is broken into halves, the top half is "Before Measurements" and bottom half is "Current Measurements" or after adjustment. Alignment done on Hunter Rack.
Obviously the fronts on the PG are wild with the difference between left and right being a 0.5 difference. This is where I would say not everyone is going to have this large of a difference. Notice the Red spec sheet, there is only 0.1 difference between left and right. The rears on both PG and Red are fully adjustable with rear camber kits and toe bolts installed. I can dial in just about any toe and camber. I will probably run with this toe setting for front and back and see how tire wear is after a few thousand miles. I will want to try next time around for a toe of 0.2 Fr and 0.0 Rr. This current setting will give me a bit more tire life with the large positive toe settings. The first setting I had on the PG was the Rr camber at -1.6 & -1.5 which felt real slow turning in. Hence the staggered difference with more negative camber up Front -1.2 & -1.7 and then in Rear -1.0 & -1.1 provided much quicker steering response and turn in. I would have preferred up front with -1.3 to -1.5 BUT after two tries on the alignment rack and they did settle after the first alignment (one weeks worth of driving at about 120 miles). I am faced with this large difference in negative camber between front right and front left. A control arm will fix this, but will have to wait at $500 a pop per car. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_l...2011_Small.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_l...292011_Lrg.jpg . |

Im guessing the car will sit lower with a wider tire do to les sidewall, and the ride quality will suffer slightly correct? Performance wise though, the wider tire is usually better correct? |
Swifts are installed. Not a bad job at all. Took the front struts to a friend's shop and used their wall mounted "Strut-Tamer". Initial thoughts... Look great and feel great. Lots of benefit with no sacrafice.
Thanks to Swift and KamiSpeed! Definately one of my best "bang for the buck" mods ever. http://www.the370z.com/members/beach...2-rwm-4663.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/beach...5-rwm-4672.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/beach...6-rwm-4673.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/beach...4-rwm-4671.jpg |

BeachZTT, I reconize the white box in your driveway, it's the fun box! The Roadster's stance just got a hella lot better looking.
In for photos of your alignment spec sheet! |

When I first saw the 370Z convertible I thought it looked terrible. And now I know why: because it sits awkward as hell from the factory (especially with the standard, poorly offset wheels). And now that I've been meeting and seeing guys with dropped verts?
Good Lord am I in absolute love. My opinion has completely changed - it's beautiful! |
