I would wait a week or 2 and get it realigned but thats just me.
Can't wait for my springs to come in!:icon14: |
I have heard drive on them for roughly 500 miles then align.
|
What model is that swift springs? How much is it? Is the ride bumpy?

You need to give them time to settle. |
So i finally got my swift springs after nearly 2 months andbwill be installing today.. So is this how to mount them with the rubber silencer at the bottom of the suspension housing?

I think your spring is backwards, the part where the turns are closer together should go on the top.

Got it from Kami... Ordered them back in April.... Btw can anyone confirm if the springs installed is upside down.. Cause the mechanic where i sent the springs insisted that its installed as shown in the picture below..
http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._4192138_n.jpg But according to JJ-Nismo in post 219 its the other way round... So which one is the correct way? Please confirm guys... Thanks.. Quote:

Tighter coils to the top! You should be able to read the Swift logo on the springs! Make the garage reinstall those ASAP.
|
I havent corrected the installation of springs yet, was waiting for confirmation from you guys... will probably make the changes tomorrow... BTW was just wondering, what would be the consequences if i keep the springs installed upside down?
btw here's the result: Before: http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._2013312_n.jpg After: http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._1413327_n.jpg Before: http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...0_705529_n.jpg After: http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7524312_n.jpg |
I would think that the engineering of the springs was specific to the handling characteristics of the car and you should change this immediately.
|
^ yeah, and you would think it would ride like sh!t too! How the hell did they install them upside down?
That's why I do my own sh!t. Less headaches like this... See this post for what the springs should look like installed: http://www.the370z.com/945659-post219.html |
for those who have springs ordered from us: FYI official word from Swift is that the springs container arrives on the 16th... 2 more days, almost there!!!!

I hope that means the same for Corner3 and others!

fyi shipment arriving tomorrow means it arrives swift, they're shipping out directly all the order since the waits been so long, but it also means if they arrive tomorrow it'll take them 1-2 days to process everything and then a few days for shipping to get them to you... so for most I'd say you'll atleast have tracking numbers tomorrow :)

So happy I can cry.
|
Finally got my alignment today, been at least a month with the springs on. I was able to get everything back into OEM specs:
LF: Camber = -1.2 Caster = 5.2 Toe = .11 RF Camber = -1.0 Caster = 5.2 Toe = 0.09 LR Camber = -2.0 Toe = .14 RR Camber = -2.0 Toe = .15 Didn't get the before specs, but am very happy. |
^ Thats all that matters "very happy". I think that is the key to a good alignment which is to place some miles on the springs before an alignment. Mine were off a bit from one alignment to the next.
And you did this with out any control arms nor rear camber kit w/toe bolt? |
Needed nothing but springs.
|
There you have it folks....if you want to retain OEM specs...then NO Control Arms nor Rear Camber Kit w/toe bolt are required.
If you are looking for more adjustability, then I would suggest first go with a Rear Camber Kit w/toe bolt and see how you like the handeling then go from there. It's your choice and depends on what you are looking for. Thanks speedworks |
I have to put a rear camber kit on mine to get back into spec. I'm doing that this weekend and will post my before/after figures.
From what I can tell, toe bolts are not required with these springs. |
Well drats....I thought we finally had a tried and true response for you guys on the neccessity of kits or not.
I had to install the toe bolt to get my back into spec. With the added toe bolt, now it gives me more adjustability. So go figure, back to square one. I cannot believe all cars are off spec that much after installing the springs. Current tire wear might contribute to the varied alignments we have seen. |

I have a question about tire size and alignment....
My car came with the 18" rims and tires(225/50-18 and 245/45-18) now I have 19" rims with 245/40-19 and 285/35-19 which is the same size as the 370 Nismo; I take my car to NTB to do the alignment, when NTB does the alignment they do it according to the tire size, so which tire size should I do the alignment under the 18" or the 19" ? Sorry if it is a stupid question but I'm new at this. Thanks. |
Sweeeet, springs have departed Bloomington, CA fedex facility! Godspeed my little springs :excited:
Thanks KamiSpeed |
Thank You Kamispeed for the Swift Springs!!
|
yup, all USA orders should have tracking numbers :) check your email and check your KamiSpeed account
|
Yeah, Ill finally have mine Thursday. Hoping to install them this weekend. Just need to get my hands on a spring compressor. Cant wait to see how these change the handling characteristics. Hope they are worth the 9 week wait.

Has anyone heard anything from any other vendors about when their orders will be shipping? I am waiting on an update for an order I placed in mid February.
|
I've not read this whole thread so sorry if this has already been answered. I have swift springs and 15/20mm spacers on order. I got the DRS style from H&R so I think I should be good there. Anyway, whats the best route to do the install? Should I do the springs first, wait for them to settle (2 weeks or so) and then do spacers and alignment? Or should I install springs and spacers at the same time, wait for it to settle and then do alignment?
Thanks, Matt |
Just a note, I tried using the rented spring coil compressor from auto zone and it was too difficult with the swifts. They are hard to compress and the coils were very close to one another. It was way easier using a during compressor at a shop.
|
Buddah, you can do the spring and spacer install at once if you like, or you can wait. The stud replacement type will require you to remove the bake caliper, so you might as well do it while the car is up in the air already.
Just be sure to have both installed before the alignment and drive on the springs for a few hundred miles. |
