yea they come black, unfortunately we just have a generic picture that swift uses for the Spec-R springs but for some reason not all spec-r springs are that color...

KamiSpeed 06-29-2011 04:25 PM

officially out of stock, next ETA is end of July, let me know if anyone needs to pre-order :)

wheee! 06-29-2011 08:09 PM

These springs are amazing, inspiring, aggressive, balanced, responsive, and basically perfect!
Just got back from a trip thru the Rocky Mountains with these and chasing a motorcycle rally thru the twisties. I was blown away by how these springs held the roads and kept the car flat and on line!
WORTH EVERY PENNY AND THEM SOME!!!

Nismo needs Camber Kit

1 Attachment(s)
Gentlemen, I put my Swifts on a few months ago, but due to a hectic work schedule, never got around to driving the car much after the first few weeks. I am back in action and recently got an alignment done. Check out the print out for more detail, but long story short, the Nismo DOES need a rear camber kit. The front could use a camber kit to get back within the Nismo OEM -.58, but I am fine with running -1.5. Note that OEM Nismo front is -0.58 front and -1.58 rear

Notes
  • Swifts still kick a** and are a great option
  • Swifts provide a perfect looking drop IMO and definitely increase overall handling performance
  • Pulling ramps out everytime I go in and out of my driveway sucks

Alignment Specs
  • Front Before Alignment: -1.6 left; -1.7 right
  • Front After Alignment: -1.5 left; -1.7 right
  • Rear Before Alignment: -2.8 left; -3.0 right
  • Rear After Alignment: -2.3 left; -2.3 right

AlphaSnacks 06-29-2011 11:50 PM

For those who keep on scraping, I suggest taking a dremel and cutting away the lower portion on the sides of the plastic spoiler beneath the bumper. We did that at the shop, per my request, and it came out perfect.

See pic here: http://i.imgur.com/OCO05.jpg

Not linking to it since it is gigantic so you can see the detail.

Take about half an inch off the ones below the fender, as well.

AlphaSnacks 07-03-2011 12:41 AM

So after about 400 miles on these springs, I have concluded they are awesome. Smooth. Hardly any stiffer than OEM. And yet handle notably sharper and better. I hit a mean bump in the road today...I guess the group of as*holes who cut a chunk out in the middle of the road through it wasn't necessary to warn drivers there was a sharp bump.

When I hit it, I was surprised how well the springs absorbed the impact - it was just a solid thud and not the kind where you feel like your head has been smacked by a hammer. Very happy I went this route. I'm going to have to trim the plastic below the bumper just a tad more, but otherwise nothing beats this spring.

christian370z 07-03-2011 02:56 PM

Those are my thoughts exactly, glad you like them Arnold! They really change the overall balance and feel of the car and make it much more responsive and tossable as opposed to the stock springs making the car feel a bit heavy with a bit of understeer.

Mandingo 07-04-2011 07:10 PM

Installing my springs right nao!

I have a question though.. I reused the oem rubber sleeve for the bottom coil but I've been seeing pictures of another black sleeve 2 or 3 coils down from the top.

My springs arrived completely nude. Just confirming this is correct.

Sent an email to swift but I tend to get answers much quicker here ;)

Ron 07-04-2011 07:46 PM

No other rubber sleeve besides the OEM gray ones that go on the bottom. You're good.

Mandingo 07-04-2011 10:25 PM

Much apreesh Ron :tiphat:

Just because you need a rear camber kit does not mean everyone else does. Nismo or not. I did not need one, dialed in to -1.4 front, -1.9 on the rears with no kit.

Bottom line, every car is different. Some will need kits, some will not. Won't know until you get 'em on and get an alignment.

Are you using spacers with your set up?

ZeN 07-12-2011 11:26 AM

Guys..at almost full tank of fuel, my rear sits at 26.75'' while my front sits higher at 27''..normal ? This is after 5 days installed. BTW i ran 20mm front and 25mm rear with H&R spacers - stock rays. I checked and both marking for rear and front spring is correct...is there any chance that the rear spring fit at front with the shocks?

Most people get 26.75 front and 27'' back measured from ground to edge of the fender through center cap..pardon my english - 3rd world country :)

No not normal. Rear should sit at around 27" and front should be a little lower. You might want to check your springs, especially in the front.

Econ 07-12-2011 01:09 PM

yea im gettin a little suspicious of my swifts. my ride height is almost the same front vs back

CFZ 07-12-2011 02:40 PM

Usually ride height changes depending on vehicle, the wear rate of the rubbers in our suspension is not all the same.

Mine is currently the same all around as well.

Mandingo 07-12-2011 04:19 PM

My springs have about 20 miles on them now. Here are my fender heights so far:

FL-27 1/16 FR-26 15/16

RL-27 3/16 RR-27 2/16

http://www.the370z.com/members/mandi...-unsettled.jpg

BTW I found that the autozone rental compressors only worked if I attached them as pictured:
http://www.the370z.com/members/mandi...ork-swifts.jpg

Spanning 3 coils on either side did not compress the springs enough in my case.
Its a baetch to get the compressor spanning 4 coils off once the springs are uncompressed because the top arm of the compressor is wedged in the coils pretty tight. Its doable though.

Yes this is a big issue, I had to wedge my top of the clip up as far as I could to get more coils in to compress enough, otherwise, like you said, it did not compress enough to remove them.

I did my Swifts Sat. Absolutly no problem w the Autozone compressor what so ever. A lot of people on here say its not easy to use, I really dont understand why. I only spanned 3 coils and had no prob removing them. Got my install done in under 3 hrs.

well done!

Its Great to see more customers enjoying their swift springs!!!

nugenzboss 07-16-2011 12:19 AM

Im sure someone had already mentioned this earlier in the tread but are you guys able to get over speed bumps with the springs on??

AlphaSnacks 07-16-2011 01:07 AM

Yes, but I HIGHLY recommended cutting/shaving the front plastic scraper at least by half an inch all the way around. Same goes for the plastic by the wheels.

nugenzboss 07-16-2011 08:15 AM

Awesome thanks man!!!

Could you post pictures of the areas which you shaved down? Thanks!

I have about 500 mile on mine since install and the driving & handling are second to none (as far as springs go).

We always do some spirited driving thru the mountains here in Georgia and after we stop for lunch on several occasions the guys following me asked "what kind of coil overs are running" and when I tell them just springs 2 people had to look under my car b/c they didn't believe me.

And I'm not that good of driver just average, this springs were definitely designed for this car and done very well.:tiphat:

I agree. These springs increase handling tremendously. It really is amazing. I have 10x more confidence going into a turn now. You cut the wheel and the Z hunkers down and gets it done. Swift truly created a top notch product.

Update on settling

After 20 miles:

After 200 miles:

FL-26 15/16 FR-26 15/16

RL-27 1/16 RR-26 1/2

So my rear passenger side went down an additional 0.625 inches for a total drop of 1.49 inches. Doesn't seem right lol. I've checked it multiple times though on different surfaces. Air pressures are all equal. Rubber seats are aligned correctly. Spring doesn't look damaged.

I'm gonna to take it apart tomorrow and check out whats going on.

How are you measuring it ?
From the center of the wheel to the rim on the quarter panel/fender I hope.

B/c if you are measuring from the ground it won't be correct.

KamiSpeed 07-20-2011 01:15 PM

anyone need springs? they're back in stock today :)

Alto101 07-20-2011 05:31 PM

My impressions after a few days

Pros:

Car looks great, it will look even better once I swap it out with my new wheels (G-Games 99B +22 offset).

Handling is definitely improved although I have yet to drive a good twisty road.

Normal road bumps seem to be handled like the OEM springs

Cons:

I have to take a different entrance into my parking lot at work. There is a good size dip that I can't navigate easily without scraping.

The car seems to be bouncy with height changes on the interstate (for example before a small bridge). I lower my speed when I see them and don't scrape but I was hoping that the springs would handle these situations better.

I have yet to tackle a speedbump but I will have tomorrow to see how that goes. No allignment yet so I can't comment on if I will need a camber kit.

If anyone is experiencing different results from me, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Finally, what is the proper method for measuring my ride height?

Thanks!

I will post pictures this weekend once I get my new wheels put on.

Measure from the center of the wheel to the top of the wheel well outter lip.

DO NOT measure from the floor it is very inaccurate.
