I have Konis and like them. For the Z they are not inserts like on some other cars. It has been a long time since I installed them but it's just a strut swap on the front. Compress the spring, remove the strut and reuse the top hat etc. The rears come with their own dust boot because the adjustment is at the top of the dust boot.
